My advice to a pregnant woman? Write down everything that you will NEVER let your child do or say or eat, or things you are CERTAIN you will do.

Then pull out that sheet for a hearty laugh once in a while after your child is born.

Thanks Jennifer & Helen! So glad to have additional advice to add and such good, true advice too. I just know that it will be hard to pull away from the baby initially just bc it’s all so new, but in order for me to be the best mom, it will be necessary, and really that’s just what I want to be: a good mom to my child. Thanks again!!

Oh, I have to come back and agree WHOLEHEARTEDLY with Jennifer. Many moms feel guilty about being away from their babies for short periods….but it’s important for dads to have alone-time with babies too, and it’s true- you get overwhelmed and you need some downtime so even if you don’t feel like it– get away! Even for a short walk with a friend, it’s recharging!

I love all of those messages- so much wisdom and I agree with it all!

My advice would be from my experience (my kids are teens now) I think many parents forget this:
“always remember that you are the parent, not your child’s friend and you are there to guide them, not for them to like you all the time- you won’t be popular sometimes and that’s okay”

My advice to you is do not be afraid to take some time for YOU after little Tarzan is born. I made the mistake of trying to spend every waking minute with my first baby and got overwhelmed quickly. If you need a sitter, get one. If you need Tarzan to take the baby while you go for a walk to get some air, do it. Do not be afraid to be away from your baby to get some time for YOU!!!!
