Good news from this pregnant couple, I *think* our baby boy has a name!

I think we finally picked our baby boy's name! Yay!!As you know, Tarzan and I have been going back and forth discussing various boy names that we can name our baby.  I never expected how tough this would be!  I always thought that picking a name would be one of the most exciting parts about being pregnant, but honestly, it isn’t all that exciting.  It is more complicated than anything!

Of course our baby had to be a boy, right?  See, he’s already making things difficult for us!  Just kidding… but we did have a girl’s name picked.  Just sayin’.

It seems like every name I’ve thrown out has been vetoed by his husband, especially the names I’ve thrown out during this second trimester.  It reminds him of someone he went to school with in 3rd grade.  It sounds too biblical.  Or he just plain doesn’t like it.  There has been something wrong with every single boy name that I’ve thrown his way.

Until now.  Well, actually a few weeks ago after we found out the sex from the big ultrasound.

It had gotten to the point where I was just throwing out any boy name I could think of.  I didn’t even necessarily love it.  I just wanted to rule out others until we possibly got to the right one.  Well, I said one name and I actually liked it.  To my surprise, Tarzan didn’t mind it then and we decided that we would put it in the running for THE name.

Since then we have not come up with any other names and I’m fine with that.  In fact, THE name has become a favorite of mine and I really, really like it for our son.  And I’m pretty sure that Tarzan feels the same way because…

The other day he came home and said, “You know I really like xyz and I think it would be perfect.”

Yesterday when I went to run errands, he kissed me goodbye and kissed my belly and said, “Goodbye xyz“.

This morning when he woke up, he kissed me and my belly and started talking to him, using THE name.

Hmm…

I think we found our boy name!!!

Of course we don’t have a middle name yet but we still have tons of time.  128 days to be exact.  And if my aunt tells me one more time how I have to use either my dad’s first or middle name, I will scream.  Totally different story for another post though.

So that’s my exciting news for you.  We have a boy name (at least right now we do)!

Of course, I’m taking the advice that many of you have given me and we aren’t telling just yet!  I don’t know if we’ll tell our families or friends before he makes his entrance to the world even.  I like having it a secret only between me and T…

But you can always try to get it out of us!

I am also due in July with my second girl. We had boy names picked out this time around-- both agreed on them, and loved them. well..when we found out we were having a girl, we thought--crap! we don't have any girl names that we both liked! I bought another baby name book & we have both been combing through it. My husband has his favorites & keeps poo pooing all of my name suggestions. I think he has to get his way this time! We kept our baby's name a secret with baby #1 (which i am going to do again with this baby--once we decide on what to call her!).

Don't tell anyone the name! My husband spilled to his parents and they told him the middle name (that we picked for my half of the heritage) was inappropriate. And he listened. I didn't get my French girl's name and I will always be a little annoyed at them for it. If you don't tell them until the forms are filled out everyone has to just deal with it.

we are the complete opposite, even though i thought we were having a girl, it was onyl boys names we woudl both agree on, now we know we are having a girl, we can agree on a single name

It will be a shock to me if we come up with a name before she is born heheh

We don't know the sex of our baby yet, but we're hoping it's a girl because we can't think of a boy's name that we like! We won't be telling anyone the names we like, because we don't want to hear "I went to school with a xxx and he was a wanker" etc

I'm so pleased you have chosen a name, and I look forward to hearing it when your little one arrives.

Congrats on finding the name. We don't know the sex of ours yet (only 14 weeks along) and so far all we have is a girl name. We already have 2 boys and I'm afraid we may have already used the only boy names we can agree on!

It's a good idea not to share your name idea with others because someone is bound to say a reason they don't like that name...and make you second-guess your decision. I am the mom of 4 boys and 1 girl. They youngest two came with names since we adopted them from Russia when they were 5 & 10! We didn't have to think too much then...just Americanized them up a bit with spelling. Good luck to you!

It was funny we talked and talked about what to name our son and then when we found the right name, the one we both agreed on, that was it we didn't talk about it any more. That was the name we stuck with for the rest of the time. We both liked it then and we both like it now but we didn't want to over analyze it once we agreed. His name is Chance by the way.

Congrats! We had a hard time choosing a name too, but we *think* we have one for our baby girl. We've told family and a couple close friends.

We picked our names years ago when we were actually trying to get pregnant. Like you we had no trouble with the girls name but the boy was more difficult. We now have the first name but we have choosen to keep the middle name a secret. I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours.

I saw this and was sure that you would love it. I am 19 weeks, just a bit behind you. I love reading your blog, it makes my day. Good luck with everything

Congrats on finding a name! You're one step closer to being prepared for your little guy. :)

Well done! we also have a tentative name. I use it in my head sometimes, but not out loud (not sure why!) and I agree, it is nice having a wee secret from everyone else.

Hmmm, I don't think I like xyz for a boy's name...I mean, it reminds me of this ex-boyfriend I used to have....I mean, what are you going to use for a nickname?...Ooh, how 'bout abc instead?

Lol, just had to toss that in ;) Congrats on finding a name, I'm sure it's perfect!
