Baby’s first concert: Pussycat Dolls and Britney Spears!

by Jane on March 31, 2009 · 9 comments

Britney's Circus tour was awesome, even though I was pregnant!Last night one of my girl friends and I went to see the Pussycat Dolls and Britney Spears concert!  I had such a great time and I remember the whole concert (thanks to not having alcohol).

As I was getting dressed for the concert, I felt a little silly.  Like the 50-year old that tries to be “cool” and dresses like a 20-year old.  Seriously, I did.

I asked Tarzan if it was dumb that I was about to partake in a Britney concert and he (of course) told me that I was being silly (good man).  Something about having a bump just changed it for me.  Like I would stand out in a very weird way.  But I sucked it up and got ready to meet my friend for dinner, instead of drinks like it used to be.  Oh how things have changed!

I was super excited for this concert.  I know it may strike you as funny, but I love Britney.  Even in her crazy days I was totally rooting for her.  I like that she’s gotten her life (seemingly) back to normal and I hope that she continues to kick a$$.

At the concert I saw some other pregnant ladies and I felt redeemed, like it was perfectly okay for me to be at a Britney concert pregnant.  Strange, I know.

When we got to our seats, there was this crackhead of a woman that was sitting down and she waved her hands at me and told me, “No!  This seat is for my husband.”  She was so completely out of it and it was way obvious.  I told her, “I’m not trying to take your husband’s seat, I’m going to my seat.”  Then she called me a b!tch.  Nice way to start off the night!

I was surprised that someone would be so ridiculously rude, but whatever, these kinds of people do exist.  Then I pulled out my camera and she noticed.  She offered to take our picture, but I declined that offer.  I figured she would throw my camera or something equally crazy.  Then I told her, “I’m not sure what just happened there, but we were just trying to get to our seats, blah, blah, blah.”  (I figured I’d be the bigger person since our seats were right next to her seat.)

Naturally, in her drug-induced state, she had no idea what I was talking about.  Absolutely no recollection of previously calling me a b!tch and she just mumbled away saying, “It’s fine, it’s fine” over and over again.  So strange.

Then the concert began…

The Pussycat Dolls were really great.  I really thought that they were going to be a 1-hit wonder with the “Don’t Cha” song years ago.  I never saw them getting huge, but I was wrong.  Those girls can sing and dance and they put on a great show with tons of energy.  Way better than I thought, although the baby was not jamming to them.

Next out on stage was a mixture of circus acts.  There were jugglers, a gymnast that did flips on a board held by 2 guys, clowns, and tons more to look at.  It was incredible!  After the circus acts, Perez Hilton did a video for “the fine lady Spears” and it was crazy.  It was all about circus activity, laughter, and freak shows.

Shortly after his video, Britney made her entrance in the air.  There were acrobats, great dancers, great props to dance with, and it was just really an amazing show.  Obviously she didn’t sing, but you don’t go to a Britney concert to hear her sing; you go to watch her perform and put on a show, which she did.  And she did it amazingly well.  So well that she got my baby dancing in my belly!

All in all it was fantastic!  There were so many great outfits that she wore and so many places to look to keep entertained.  She sang a good set of her songs and I was impressed!  I would definitely see her again and if you get the chance, you should definitely see this tour!  I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Oh c'mon Kelly, you don't know what you're missing out on with skipping out on Britney! ;)

I would love to see U2 - Wonder if they are coming here? We love concerts too! I think you would be fine at 6.5 months. I do agree with you on everything being so different now when pregnant. There's a lot more to take into consideration!

We're trying to plan out our summer concert schedule, which wouldn't include Britney even if she were going to be in the Buffalo area and even if I were to go with girlfriends. ;) We're looking at No Doubt and Paramore in June (I'll be 5 1/2 months) and Nickelback, Hinder, Papa Roach, and Saving Abel in July (6 1/2 months--that might be rough because it's a longer show). I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want to see U2 in Toronto in the middle of September, but I'll be about 8 1/2 months at that point and don't think it would be such a good idea. I look forward to seeing some shows (we love concerts!), but I do have to admit that I'm a little apprehensive about making plans because I just have no idea how I'll feel or what the weather will be like. It's funny how being pregnant makes you look at things like this from a whole different perspective!

Tori - We're not the types that are going to let pregnancy slow us down, are we?! People do stare ,but I've realized that there are so many rude people in the world. It's unfortunate, like we are just supposed to sit at home and think about strollers. Give me a break!

Lanea - When are you going to see her?

Das's Wife - Sorry you had to miss it due to bed rest. :( What exactly is ehlers danlos?

Dispatch - The concerts you went to sound like a blast! I've seen the Rolling Stones once, but it was a long time ago with my parents. Still fun though! Good thing no one hit on you, gross! I can relate to heels - I LOVE heels, but I'm realizing more and more that they aren't going to be my friend for too much longer. So sad.

HDL - I love that you went to a concert! Hope you had a blast there! Entertainment is good for our sanity, right?!

Helen - No, definitely lip-syncing for sure! I didn't mind though. She is quite the entertainer! You would have hated this concert bc it was all sexual and so much of it was "dark". It was great for anyone older than 18 yrs old!

Really? She didn't sing live? I took my daughter to 2 Britney shows. One in 2001 (I think) We really enjoyed that. I bought 2nd row seats from Britney's charity auctions on Ebay! The second one I hated. It was tho Onyx Hotel tour with all the beds on stage and the simulated sex....lovely for my 13 year old daughter to watch!
But I was sure she sang at both shows. Maybe I'm easily fooled!

It's good to know that I'm not the only one taking in some entertainment while pregnant! I was at the Music as a Weapon concert in Dallas last night and it rocked! Still too early for the baby to jam but I think he/she liked it anyway.

I went to 2 concerts when I was pregnant with my son, the 1st one was The Rolling Stones when they played @ Fenway Park in Boston, I was wearing their Giant Tongue logo tank top and got hit on several times. I was only about 3 months pregnant at the time, but none the less still creeped out. The second concert I was very preggers probably around 6 or 7 months when I went to the Fiona Apple concert at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston. I was in luck no getting hit on by creepers that time :) Last month I went to see The Wizard of Oz at the Providence Performing Arts which my little girl in my belly quite enjoyed. But it is rather hard to find nice attire when you're further along, I went to motherhood maternity and managed to find a dress that didn't look like a tent, but the only shoes I had were like 3' heels, which is always fun to waddle around on the cobblestones on ... :)

I love britney she really can do no wrong by me lol. I wanted to go to the concert so bad but because of my ehlers danlos it would be impossible to go now that im 22 weeks.

I've been following your blog for a while it really keeps my mood up since im on bedrest.

Keep writing! :-)

I'm so happy Britney's back too...I'm glad you liked the concert and I can't wait till I see here! lol

Try having a huge bump at a Cheech and Chong show for feeling weirdly out of place :) I took my mom in late Feb. as part of her Christmas present (she's a big fan). People look at you like they expect preggos not to have a life outside the belly and baby stuff. Too bad we're people who like things like concerts and comedy teams!
