24 weeks pregnant: Going from married status back to engaged status just like that

At 24 weeks pregnant I think it's time to retire my wedding band until the baby arrives.Today, at 24 weeks pregnant, I realized something.

It’s been a few days since I’ve worn my wedding band on my hand constantly.  Really, I’ve only put it on to go grocery shopping or if I need to run another errand, but it annoys me because it’s getting tight.  *Sigh*

It’s a sad, sad day, but I think it’s come time to put my wedding band in the safety deposit at the bank until this little baby boy decides to grace us with his entrance.  *Sigh again*

My wedding band fit perfectly when I got it and it compliments my engagement ring perfectly.  After our wedding, I gained about 10 pounds and it started to feel more snug, but not at all to the point of how it feels now.  Now it’s just tight and I want to rip it off.

If I’m in the living room, it’s sitting on the coffee table.  When I’m in bed, it’s on my nightstand.  When I’m getting dressed, it can be found on my bathroom counter.  But I’ve come to the realization today that while it’s good to have it around me, it’s not doing me any good following me around without being on my finger.

The strangest part is that I don’t feel like my hands are swollen at all.  They don’t look any bigger to me.  I’ve only noticed that I can’t stand the feeling of a too-tight ring on.

Luckily my engagement ring has always been a lot looser so there’s no problem there.  Thankfully.

I was the kind of girl that wore my engagement ring and wedding band all of the time, except to shower.  That was the only exception.  I slept in both of them.  I did the dishes with both of them on.  They have always been on my finger.  And now it’s down to just one ring.

Just like that, I went from being married to be engaged.  Boom!

I told Tarzan the sad news and he said that we will get me another band to wear until I am able to wear my original band again. At least I get some new bling!  Ha, ha.

PS, I totally bought a fake $4 fatty ring at Walmart to wear when my fingers were to swollen during pregnancy. ;)

Oh my goodness! It's definitely a process... I first stopped wearing my rings at night when I got engaged because I used to sleep with my hands close to my thighs and I kept cutting my leg. Then I had to stop wearing my rings alltogether at 7 months along with my first because of the swelling. THEN after he was born, I barely wore them because I was so petrified of scratching my baby, especially when changing diapers. Now I only put them on when I go out of the house. I feel terrible because my husband upgraded my engagement ring Christmas a year & 1/2 ago but I just feel like I'm gonna rip someone's face off or crack them on something. (The reason he had to replace my engagement ring is because the diamond cracked and then the replacement diamond cracked... I swear I'm gentle on them!)

I, too, am 24 weeks pregnant and conceived on Halloween....and I don't wear my ring anymore.
I feel bad about it and I sometimes think people are looking at me funny because of it, but oh well. Some days it's too loose and I'm afraid I'll lose it. Other days I'm very bloated and my finger turns red & hurts with it on, so I take it off and misplace it. It's an old family ring and I don't want to lose it!
We are strange in that we didn't always wear the rings anyway. No particular reason, we just didn't. LOL

I had to take off both my rings a couple weeks ago and it devastated me. My hubbs got me a cheapie CZ stand-in ring, but it wasn't the same, it wasn't as pretty as my wedding set, and it turned my finger green. I needed to get them sized up a little bit anyways (hubbs used an old high school sized ring to get my set sized secretly when he was plotting my engagement, and I was much thinner then), so while they were off my hand, I got them resized and now I'm wearing them again. Unless my finger puffs up a ton more in these next 8-10 weeks, they're staying on! I felt naked without them! :)

Seconding Peta. I'm not pregnant yet, but I've had to resort to this because I've lost a lot of weight in the last year, and I can't wear my wedding band without it falling off.

My finger still feels so bare without it, though; I'm constantly worrying at that spot expecting to find it there.

Some jewelers will size your rings for free if you have the protection plan. Is sizing an option so you can keep wearing them?

Get A nice Necklace and wear you ring on around your neck that way it is still with you

My wedding band's days are numbered too. It's getting more and more snug. Doesn't help that it's been hotter out lately too.
