Since I’ve heard that the third trimester starts on week 26 of pregnancy, week 27 of pregnancy, AND week 28 of pregnancy (all different books and websites), I’ve not really known when to consider myself in the third trimester.
Today I am 28 weeks 2 days, so I’m declaring that it’s officially the third trimester for me!
Congrats to me!
According to a pregnancy ticker I saw, I only have 82 more days until the little babe arrives.
82 days!!
Oh. My. Gosh.
I’m not going to freak out because I can’t imagine life with a baby. Or because the only things we have for said baby are 2 Gap onesies. Or because I haven’t even registered for my baby shower (the invites went out yesterday). Or because we haven’t taken a class at the hospital. Or because I don’t have a birth plan (and don’t exactly know how necessary this is).
And the list could go on and on…
But no, I’m not thinking about how unprepared I am. Instead, I’m just really excited to be in the third trimester and I’m absolutely amazed at how fast time has gone by.
You know, before getting pregnant, I always thought that 9 months of pregnancy seemed SO long and that I would be prepared when the baby came. Oh how wrong I was in my thinking!
It’s May, the babe is due in July, and we are still unprepared. But it does provide me with a good laugh because I know it’ll all work out. And I know that I’ll get my butt in gear and start doing some of the things that I can’t really put off anymore. That time will come soon enough.
But for tonight, I will just enjoy the fact that I’m at this huge milestone, the babe is healthy, I’m healthy, and that I will be a mom soon!

Congrats! You're almost there!
As for a birth plan, they're not necessary. And from my experience, it's much easier to just go with the flow. If you don't want drugs, tell your nurse. If you want them somewhere down the line, tell your nurse. You never know how things are going to go, so the best policy in my opinion is to just go with it. Once he's born, you should tell your nurse you plan to breastfeed (or not), they will usually ask and then they shouldn't give him any supplements like sugar water, ect. Good luck, hun!
