I hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day! Mine was pretty great and just how I wanted it to go.
I might be in the minority with my thinking, but I didn’t want a full-blown Mother’s Day aimed at me because while I’m almost to that point, I’m not quite there yet.
I’m only 29 weeks pregnant and I don’t exactly know what it is to be a mom. I’m talking about being sleep deprived from your baby, learning what’s it like to change more diapers than I can even begin to imagine, and so on.
I had told Tarzan a while back that I did not want him to get me a Mother’s Day card. He could get a mom-to-be card and that would be just perfect for me. I guess I just want next year’s Mother’s Day to really be the “big” day because we’ll have our son and it will seem just a little more special.
Tarzan followed the rules (ha, ha) and got me a mom-to-be Mother’s Day card that was perfect. While I love all things shiny and sparkly and am a true girly-girl, I think a card with sweet words can be the best gift ever… and that’s what he did. He wrote about how he is so excited to do special things for me with our son in the future – draw pictures with our son, give me breakfast in bed, etc. He also said that he’s so happy that I’m going to be our son’s mom.
It was all just really sweet and I cried.
He also got me another card that was short and to the point, but from our son. It was written like a 1st grader might write and it just said “I can’t wait to meet you and thanks for taking such good care of me”. Again, so sweet and the tears came pouring out.
He also bought three books for our son about little boys and their moms. He read one of the books to my belly last night, complete with sound effects. He really will be a great father!
We spent the day with my family and it was just a really wonderful and low-key Mother’s Day. Absolutely perfect for this mom-to-be!
