Almost 32 weeks pregnant: Just did my 1st ever load of washing baby clothes!

by Jane on May 28, 2009 · 7 comments

My first load of washing baby clothes, done at 32 weeks pregnant. It’s a big day!  I’m stoked to be about 32 weeks pregnant and I feel the nesting period starting to kick in.

Even though today has been a crazy day with cleaning and having company over, I also decided it was VERY important to sort all the many baby clothes we have and wash them.  Can I just tell you that I’ve never been so excited to do laundry?

How weird does that sound?!  I can guarantee you that those words have never come out of my mouth.  Not even once.

Yesterday I stopped by Babies R Us to pick up Dreft and Seventh Generation Free and Clear dryer sheets.  I also bought 60 hangers, to which my husband laughed.

60?  Yes, Tarzan, 60.

This excited mom-to-be has been looking at cribs endlessly to try to solidify the one that we are getting.  Tarzan and I are both cribbed-out.  Because of my impatient nature, I do not want to have to wait the 6-8 weeks that I was told it would take from Baby’s 1st Furniture.

However I do love that crib and dresser/changing table combo the best, so I just might have to suck it up.  We shall see.

Since I can’t purchase and have a crib immediately set up in the nursery, I decided to do the laundry.  It was the next best thing.  Well, really the only thing that I could do.

Our little boy isn’t even here and already he has a ton of clothes.  Four loads worth so far and that’s not even everything.  But it’s all okay because I’m excited about doing the laundry.

I’m sure if you ask me a few weeks after he is born if I am still enjoying the laundry, I just might laugh in your face.  I’ll be singing a different tune then, I’m sure.

But, until then, I will enjoy doing my first ever load of baby clothes.  Hey, a pregnant girls gotta get excited about something other than food (occasionally), right?!

Hi Tarzan and Jane, Just wanted to let you guys know you were in my dreams Last night, your family found out about the site so you decided to reveal your real names, in my dream Jane your name was Donna and Tarzan, your name was Andrew. Jane you tracked me down at my work not sure how you worked out what bank in Australia I work for and called me just to let me know, that you guys were launching a new website called Tarzan and Jane Revealed.

It was such a vivid dream and felt so real, I had to share it with you.

Have fun with the laundry! I was forced to swear that I wouldn't wash anything until after the baby shower...

THE BABY SHOWER IS TOMORROW.

I am spending all day Sunday making sweet, sweet love to my washing machine. So I totally feel you =)

PS - Another crib/changing table option might be to check out your local wood shops or carpenters. Sometimes you can find a combo that you like (or design yourself) that costs less and is ready earlier than the others. Not always, but sometimes.

We washed clothes last weekend. I'm amazed at how many Adia had, enough for twins! Anyway.. I'd avoid dryer sheets. Most new baby sleepers are fire retardant. If you use a dryer sheet, it destroys that. Just an FYI.

Glad you're having fun! I had a small panic moment when doing that pre-baby's arrival laundry...suddenly realizing that he/she would have NOTHING TO WEAR if I didn't keep his/her clothes clean. Of all the things to worry about!!

I have never been prego but your enthusiasm and excitement are addictive! I love to read a post about laundry and...like it. Way to take a snoozy topic and make it fun. I want to see a pic of your tummy or swollen feet. No, I don't have a stomach or foot fetish, I just think it would be neat.

have fun doing laundry! I remember how much I loved that too!

I hear ya... even now, I love doing baby laundry! Folding my own makes me depressed tho ... hate it :P
