I say boycott the car altogether and shop online in the comfort of your own home with a window unit fan set at 68 blowing directly on your butt the whole time while you snack on frozen chucks of watermelon with your feet resting on the soon-to-be nursing stool. Works for me. :)

Peta - I would love if it was winter now, even if I had to figure out how many layers to put on. You know, the grass does always look greener on the other side ;)

Lainie - It's brutal here. I bet it gets pretty warm in NY too and to not have a/c.... You better buy a fan or something so that you stay cool on those hot days!

Crysi - Oh no! Were you on your way home or were you out running errands? That is embarrassing! Hope the a/c stays working for your sake.

Jenny - I haven't tried the prescription strength deodorant, but I've heard great things about it. And I'm with you, even if it was cold here I bet I would still be warm. The only logical answer is to basically not ever leave the house until baby T. arrives. LOL.

HDL - At least Dallas isn't as humid as Houston, but it's still pretty damn hot. At least you won't be at the end of your pregnancy during the summer though. When's your due date? I don't feel like doing the math... ;)

I hear you on the low rise. I stopped wearing mine a few weeks ago bc they were too hot (jeans) and the waist started to hurt my belly. No fun. I refuse to wear the full panel pants, no matter how many ppl tell me they love them. I don't like them and have never, ever, ever worn pants that high in my life.

I would definitely recommend those Old Navy pants. They are light weight and you can wear them as capri's or regular pants. I have the light khaki color and a gray color as well. I got a medium in the 1st pair I got and a large in the 2nd pair because I wasn't sure how my belly was going to grow. I did try them on in the store, so maybe you want to check out your ON store to see if they are available. Since my belly is bigger, the large pants are my favorite, but the mediums still fit fine. They are really comfy and you should def. try them out. The only other downside to the sweat problem is that the pockets are placed just a little too far apart on the butt, but when you wear a longer tank you can't tell at all, so it's not really a big deal to me. Perfect for summer time!

Sarah - I never thought of a towel. That really helps?? I would think it would still make that area hot. Interesting and thanks!!

I feel your pain! I keep an old towel in the car now and put that on the seat when I'm driving around. It eliminates the butt sweat problem even if I do look like a hooligan.

I'm in Dallas, so I'm feeling you on the sauna-like conditions. I'm only 17 weeks now, so I know it's only going to get more miserable. Anyway, I love those Old Navy pants! I'm still wearing my low-cut jeans but they are getting to be uncomfortable if I wear them for too long or for car rides (something about sitting in a car just seems to squish my poor tummy). So I need more forgiving pants and that Old Navy pair looks great! Did you order them online? How well do they fit? Aside from the possibility of sweat break-through, is there any reason you would not recommend them? I'm in a rather tight financial spot right now so I have to be choosey about new clothes purchases. Thanks for any advice!

Thankfully, I didn't have to deal with Houston heat (I live up north) or summer in general toward the end (both kids were winter babies), but I can relate. Even if it was 20 below, I would still find a way to sweat. Thank God for layers and prescription strength deoderant. =) Love the blog, btw.

That happened to me a few weeks ago too. I was wearing a skirt and my a/c in my car decided it only wanted to work on occasion. Not only was the butt of my skirt wet, but I had lines under my breasts AND under my belly. It was awful and seriously embarrassing.

I can relate--had my first son in August in Houston. Pure misery toward the end. Even having a/c everywhere you go (indoors, anyway) it's miserable down there. Of course, not going to be so swell here in New York without the a/c (current baby due in Sept.).

Jane I am sorry to hear about ur sweaty butt, its just turned winter here in Australia and it is so friggin cold, and with a growing belly it is getting harder and harder to find enough layers of clothes that A) cover my belly. B) keep me warm and C) not make me look any bigger then I am heheh So I am guess there is not really a good time to be pregnant, However a sweaty but would suck big time
