I measured my pregnant waist to see how much it has grown.I asked Tarzan if we had a tape measure and he looked at me like I was crazy.  He probably wondered what baby project I had in mind for us to do.

After he produced said tape measure, I asked him to wrap it around my not-so-little 34 weeks pregnant waist because I was curious.

Before getting knocked up my waist was a 29.

Now it is a 42.5.

42.5!  Holy crap!

OMG, that’s the funniest thing I’ve ever heard!  I couldn’t stop laughing.

At least I can measure my “waist” pregnant while having a good sense of humor and getting a great laugh out of it.  Has anyone else done this?

I think I’m going to start doing it weekly too because it’s so funny to document.  I wonder how much larger my pregnant waist will grow??

Mine was 44″ a couple weeks ago and is now 45″. Yikes! I was probably around 31-33″ to start.

42.5? Thats it!?!? lol I am 26 weeks and my waist is about that now :( Granted I was already like 40 to start so 2.5 in 26 weeks isnt so bad. Glad you can laugh it off. Dont worry about it now, just means you are growing Baby Tarzan great!

I measured mine a few weeks ago and it was 50″! What a shock. Hate to know what it is now since I know the girls have recently had a growth spurt.

I did one of those body molds with the broken arm cast material. It helped me see my big full body as beautiful. However what do I do with it now? I laughed so hard at my large breast and especially how “cold” it must have been. Wow that material picks up every detail. I’m glad I have it now (in my closet) and I when I hold it up to my body now I can’t believe I was ever that round.
I always thought that it would be cool to lay on my side on a huge piece of butcher paper and outline the growing bump. See the layers keep adding and growing as time goes by.
This blog is a great idea to capture your thoughts and photos…..at least it won’t have to hide in the closet when your done with it. LOL

I laugh enough when getting on the scale that I can’t even imagine how hard I might laugh if I actually measured myself! Now you have piqued my interest in doing so, though…hmmmmm….no cloth tape measures here. We only have the metal “carpentry” type ones. Not sure that will work. Maybe I should just talk myself out of it right now!

Oh, I really need to do this. Before I got pregnant, my waist was a 24. At around 20 weeks, I just stopped doing it because the progress was so minute from week to week that it wasn’t exciting.

Yeah. I’m pretty sure my waist has since expanded. ALOT.

Hey Megan R.,
If you don’t have a cloth tape measure, take a piece of string and measure your belly, then lay the string beside the carpentry tape measure.
It might be fun to have a different ribbon you measure with and cut to size each week, and hang them from something. Then you can have a visual on how much you are growing each week! Hm… I should probably start on that if I’m going to because my belly is already getting pretty big at 18 weeks!

I started out at 26″ and am now at 35″ and am 33 weeks tomorrow. I couldn’t believe it when my waist was going up an inch per week for a while! I measure weekly so it hasn’t been too shocking but still… wow. :-)

I’ve been measuring weekly since I started to show… as well as photos front and profile most weeks. You think nothing of it until you line up the photos or graph the measurements (yes I graph my measurements – I’m wierd)!

Torie – thank you for the advice. I actually just wrapped the carpentry tape measure around my waist…turns out it is pretty flexible afterall! I measured in (30 weeks along now) at 37.5 inches (circumference beginning and ending at the belly button). I was either 27 or 28 inches pre-pregnancy. Wow…can’t wait to see how big I grow to be! Yikes.

Thanks for prompting the fun “exercise” Jane!!!
