Cloud B Sleep Sheep Review: The ultimate toy that puts Baby Monkey right to sleep every time!

Cloud B Sleep Sheep For BabiesNeed some sleep? The Cloud B Sleep Sheep (featuring four soothing sounds from nature) is one of our favorite baby items thus far.  Why?  Well, a few nights ago Mommy Jane and I were going crazy trying to figure out a way to help relax Monkey and get him to fall asleep.  It was around 2 or 3 in the morning and we were going crazy trying to figure out what to do.

We were exhausted. All we wanted was just a couple hours of sleep and neither Jane nor I had any idea how many hours we had been up in a row.  Monkey was really active and maybe even a little cranky.

We were desperate and trying everything we could think of to relax our baby Monkey from: classical music, singing to him, feeding him, changing his diaper, burping him, you name it… we probably tried it.  Heck, I even tried dancing for him for awhile and all that did was entertain Jane and get a tired chuckle out of her.

Finally I decided to go into his nursery to see what I could find that may do the trick.  We received quite a few items from Jane’s baby shower that played music, but we needed something else.  Something… relaxing.

sleep sheep with nature soundsI looked over on his bookshelf and saw the Cloud B Sleep Sheep sitting there, almost saying to me, “I am the solution you’re looking for.”  I picked it up and tried to play the sounds to see what sounds it had and realized I didn’t have any batteries in it.  I carried the Cloud B Sleep Sheep downstairs and saw that Jane had taken Monkey out of the swing (which had to be the 3rd or 4th time we tried moving him from the swing, to our arms, and/or to the pack-and-play) and was holding our still active little boy.

I found some batteries, loaded them into the Cloud B Sleep Sheep and started playing the sounds.  I immediately stopped on the ocean waves and thought, “THIS IS IT!”

I brought it over to Jane and Monkey and played it.  Within seconds Monkey calmed down and slowly his eyes began to get heavier and heavier.  After a couple of minutes Jane and I carefully carried him to the pack and play and laid him down to sleep.  And there he stayed, counting sheep for the next few hours thanks to the Cloud B Sleep Sheep.

The Cloud B Sleep Sheep ROCKS!

Cloud B Sleep Sheep on a cribOver the last few days we’ve had that sheep running nearly non-stop when Monkey is in his swing or in the pack-and-play.  We’ve been amazed at how the ocean wave sounds sooth him and put him right to sleep each and every single time!

The Cloud B Sleep Sheep features four soothing sounds for your baby: Mothers Heartbeat, Spring Showers, Ocean Surf, and Whale Songs.  Our favorite is the ocean surf followed by the spring showers.  I think Monkey would also agree with that order.

And I can tell you that it’s so relaxing listening to those smooth ocean waves while laying on the couch with Jane knowing our little Monkey is sound asleep.  The waves have put us to sleep many times over the last week too!

cloud b sleep sheep on the goIn my opinion the Cloud B Sleep Sheep was one of, if not the best gift Jane received from her baby shower.  I give it 4 out of 4 thumbs up.  Oh, and another cool feature is the velcro straps on his head that make placing it anywhere safely a breeze.

You can check out the Cloud B Sleep Sheep on Amazon here and see that most of the reviews from people are 5 out of 5 stars.  And looking at the reviews, we’re not the only new parents who have discovered that the Cloud B Sleep Sheep is one of the best items to have for your baby to help him/her fall asleep.

So do any of you have the Cloud B Sleep Sheep?  What did you think of it?

Sounds amazing. I’m going to have to buy that when our little one gets here. Thanks : )

We ordered a sound CD so we could put it on repeat. We were afraid with this that when it cuts off, it will wake him up. Of course, he’s not here yet (10 more days!). So, does Monkey continue to sleep even when it stops or do you have to start it again?

@Stacey … Great question. Jane and I thought about doing the same thing and was our back-up plan in case the Cloud B Sleep Sheep didn’t do the trick. Thankfully it did!

One thing I should add is that they make three different Cloud B Sleep Sheeps:

Option 1: One that automatically times our after 23 minutes. (Normal size)

Option 2: One that is called “Cloud B Sleep Sheep on the go” which is smaller and used for travel or you can connect to a stroller that has two options to time out after 23 minutes or after 45 minutes.

Option 3: The one we have is the Cloud B Sleep Sheep normal size, but it has two time-out options (either 23 minutes or 45 minutes) like the smaller Cloud B Sleep on the go.

I linked to Option # 3 above, which again is the one we have. Whenever we put Monkey down for a nap or to sleep (we just did 2 minutes before I jumped out to our blog here) I put the Cloud B Sleep Sheep next to him and put it on 45 minutes. He’s always out after just a few minutes.

He has never woken up when it stops, but usually we just press the button again after it stops because we also like the soothing sound. When he sleeps for 3 or so hours at night – we’re also trying to get that much needed 3 hours of sleep. We only press it once to start playing the sounds and don’t touch it again until after he eats and we change him and set him back down to sleep.

Hope that helps!

Good to know!! We got the same toy for a shower gift, excited to know that it actually works!! Our baby is due in less than 2 weeks!!

I have only recently started reading so don’t know if this is something you all have discussed before but I would HIGHLY recommend you all buying the Harvey Karp DVD The Happiest Baby on the Block!!!!! It will change your life. Have witnessed it first hand and with countless other children–Even beginning as late as 4 months old. RUN do not walk to your nearest bookstore! Good luck!

We have a womb sounding bear that we bought bleary eyed a week after our baby was born. In desperation just to find something that worked.
It worked SOOO well. But he woke up the second it shut off. We really hated that.
Ours was 45 minutes automatic shut off. We always hated our bouncy chairs for that too. He’s such a light sleeper he’s wake up the second they automatically shut off to. It was always a mad dash across the room to get both of the turned back on.
A few months ago we started using a humidifer in his room when he got sick. He liked that noise better than the bear. (it was kind of an old one with a loud fan sound) My husband recorded it and now that plays in his room on repeat all night long.
Like Stacey we were worried too. but he doesnt seem too bothered by the restart. If he has just fallen asleep then it will wake him up, but usually it doesnt!
In the car we listen to a station with static and he falls asleep before we are even out of the driveway!

@Jen … Whoo hoo Congrats! You’re getting close!

@Kate … Oh yes, we also love that DVD. I just talked about it a few days ago on a post. I “shush” every day and it WORKS every time! :) See the post: http://www.hisboyscanswim.com/2512/tarzan-on-being-a-daddy

@Ryley … That’s funny you mention a radio station with static. We tried that one too – good to keep in mind for car rides though!

Perhaps I could use it myself.

There is a website that you can download MP3’s of baby music and sounds. I downloaded the ocean waves to lay for my son when he is in the stroller or the car. You can throw it on the IPOD on repeat. LOVE IT!

Sounds like a great toy. Too bad I have no use for it. :P I may get it as a gift, though.

I should probably invest in one of those! I ran across a childrens sing along cd that I have, and there is a song called “Tarzan”. It’s about Jane and Tarzan, very cute. I will find out the lady who sings it, but you have got to get it for Monkey:)

12 Tarzan 08.02.09 at 11:26 pm

@Amber … A song about Jane and Tarzan!? No way! Yes, please let us know what it’s called and who sings it so we can check it out. Oh yes, we’ll get it for Monkey. Someday he’ll learn the true meaning of the song. :)

Glad to hear you’ve found something that works for Monkey (and the two of you). I had found that our oldest liked the sound of running water too. I spent many nights in the bathroom with him running the faucet and/or shower to soothe him to sleep. Then I found an old sound machine that my wife had and switched to that. Our sound machine sounds like the Sleep Sheep except it’s not packed into a cute sheep exterior with a velcro strap.

For those of you looking for ocean MP3 files, I did a Google search and found this site which has a 20 minute long MP3 of the ocean: http://www.sonicstudios.com/pptwaves.htm

Ok, I found the song/artist. It is Dr. Jean’s Silly Songs, and the name is “Tarzan”.

Thank you, Tarzan! We’d seen the sheep and giraffe version of this at a local bookstore, but the price was a bit steep so we didn’t pick it up. But with your glowing review I went after work yesterday and got the lovely sounds giraffe–perfect for our safari room! ALl that’s missing now is baby Bump and we’re all set to go…

Congrats on baby Tarzan! It’s been lovely following your story for the last 9 months.

16 Tarzan 08.04.09 at 8:50 am

@TechyDad … thanks for the link! One could loop those for hours on end and put the whole family to sleep :)

@Amber Digh … Awesome, thanks! I can find Dr. Jean’s Silly songs, but no sample of the Tarzan song out there. I’ve tried Google, YouTube, and Amazon. Anyone know of a place to get a sneak listen?

@Teenie … When Baby Bump arrives, he’ll thank you for the giraffe later :) And thanks for the congrats and appreciate you following on this wild journey! :)

UPDATE: Jane and I found another musical toy that helps us…

When we’re changing Monkey sometimes he gets a little upset, moves around a lot, and awhile ago before we figured out a new secret, would sometimes cry.

What is the secret? A blue octopus that plays this music that sounds like circus music! We play it over and over when changing Monkey and he doesn’t cry AT ALL! The idea came to me when we were giving him a sponge bath the other day and was not a happy camper. I went into his room, grabbed this blue octopus (that has colors on his legs that you can press and a woman’s voice will say the color) and put it next to him.

Instantly the music calmed him – or distracted him – not sure what it does yet.

But how funny, our Monkey likes circus music!

So between the Cloud B Sleep sheep and the blue octopus, Monkey is a happy camper when it comes time for things he wasn’t a fan of before. :) I can’t find the blue octopus online – but I know Babies R Us has them in the baby toy section because that’s where Jane’s mom got it for us.

Just a tip for ‘running water’ – if your kid needs this sound to fall asleep, just record it – like the guy did with the humidifer sound. Play that, and save a lot of water!

We were having a hard time getting our 5 week old to sleep. I was at my wits end… Then a brilliant person gave me one of those amazing sheep!!! O my. It’s been 8 months since then and my daughter still sleeps with that sheep. We use the ocean sound and she loves it! :) It is the best!

Oh yes, my MIL gave that to us before we delivered. Started using it a few weeks into baby number two land and it is amazing. Kinda forgot about it before that, but after realizing that doing the Harvey Karp happiest baby on the block shushing for ten minutes straight makes you hyperventilate and want to pass out, we quickly remembered this wonderful device :) It IS great.
