Hey everyone, it’s time for a new baby blog contest where you can win all three Laugh and Learn DVD’s! Just follow the instruction on this contest blog post to enter. But first, let’s fill you in on the Laugh and Learn DVD’s…
About a month ago, Jane and I received a copy of each of the Laugh and Learn DVD’s by Sheri Bayles to watch and review. Since Jane and I were only able to attend one baby class (which I failed because of my swaddling techniques) these DVD’s came in handy! We really enjoyed watching these and learned a lot from them and we would recommend them to any new parents.
The 3 Laugh And Learn DVD’s:

The first Laugh and Learn DVD is called, “Anatomy and Preliminary Signs of Labor” which is actually on 2 DVD’s and covers many subjects over 4 and 1/2 hours such as:
• Three Actual Signs of Labor
• Three Breathing Techniques
• Labor and Delivery • Pushing
• Medications used in Labor
• Induction • Forceps • Vacuum • Monitoring
• Cesarean Delivery
• Post-op C/S
• Postpartum Vaginal Delivery
The second DVD is called, “About Newborn Care“. This brand new and comprehensive newborn baby care class runs about one hour and covers everything you need to know in 6 easy to watch lessons:
•The Sponge Bath
•Diaper Change and Dressing a Newborn
•Swaddling
•The Tub Bath
•Diaper Change and Dressing a 3 Month Old
•Baby Supplies You Need
And finally, the third DVD is called, “About Breastfeeding”. Sheri’s new and comprehensive Breastfeeding Class covers everything you need to know in 9 easy to watch lessons that runs about one hour including:
•Breastfeeding Positions
•Burping the Baby
•How to Breastfeed Twins
•How Often, How Long?
•Is Your Baby Getting Enough?
•Overcoming Obstacles
•Diet
•Pumping
•Bras, Nightgowns, and Pads

I’m due in December with my first and I would love to watch these DVDs with my hubby!
We’re due in December too.
Watched the video. Informative about internal exams and nice cardboard illustrations but still getting used to the idea of babies dropping at the pelvis.
BTW – LOL at the dads-to-be fighting falling asleep. Good pretend job boys!
I can’t pick which DVD I am most exciting about watching. Being that this is my first pregnancy and I have had less time to prepare than a normal person (I just found out about it at 20 weeks) I am looking for all of the help I can get! Thanks Jane and Tarzan for these great opporunities!
I am most interested in the laugh and learn about childbirth dvd because I am 35 and half weeks pregnant and know that it won’t be too long until I am going through childbirth.
I learned my baby is “floating” right now but it feels like she’s a lot lower! Hopefully I win the DVDs so I can learn more
AND I just twittered for my bonus entry – http://twitter.com/pregnantdreamr
Although i have two kids of my own, and hopeing for one more in the near future, I would love to see the child birth pictures. No Dr completely exxplains all this to you, you are just supposed to know. Both times I was in labor they were giving #s etc, and I had no idea what they were talking about. The second one is the infant care video. That would be awesome!
I also left a tweet because I want everyoen to have a chance to win this set!

What a great video! When I first saw the contest, I thought it was for videos for the baby, and I didn’t know as I’d be too interested because I hope I can avoid putting videos on for our child (I know that’s probably a little too idealistic!), but as I read about the videos, I thought, “I could really use these!”
The video on the web site was great! I like how upbeat and funny she is, and how she explained everything in a very direct, scientific manner. It helps to have an idea of the signs we’ll be looking for when I go into labor! She also explained a lot of things that we just kind of hear in passing, like the number of weeks and how 40 weeks is the end of pregnancy. I think that’s confusing to a lot of people.
Thanks for giving these away! They will be very helpful to a lucky couple! (Hopefully us!)
I twittered, too! http://twitter.com/kjfilkins
I am currently 33 weeks pregnant, and have been following you for a couple months now
I am interested in these videos and decided to enter this contest.
I was most surprised that I can expect weight stabilization around 2 weeks before labor. I have been fortunate to have gained less than 10lbs at this point, but each 2 week visit, I’m seeing 1-2lbs gained. And from following your blog, I do remember Jane’s weight stop going up, so that was cool to me.
I found the details about how a doc/midwife measures dilation to be very interesting.
I’ve already had my baby, but I’d love to give these videos to my brother & his wife, who are expecting twins in the fall.
I just tweeted:

My friend is due in October around Halloween and she could use these. I would have to borrow the About Breastfeeding though.

Wow! Watched the video and was excited at her humor and informative way of teaching!!! Excited to watch all the videos!!!!

I’m definitely most excited about the newborn care video – the thought of watching the labor one kind of freaks me out, but it will probably be the most useful!
I am past my due date (Aug 3) … Ugh, I want to have the baby now. LOL. As far as the video, I am most excited to watch the breastfeeding video. I am not at all confident at breastfeeding my baby. So I need all the help I can get.
Hi! I would love to watch all of them, I am 28 weeks pregnant and even though I already have a daughter you can never stop learning about child birth, breastfeeding and taking care of a new born…Shery Bayles has a unique way on explaining things, she is very understandable…
I also posted on twitter : http://twitter.com/DallelyB
thanks
Just watched the video and I liked how she explained things and used visuals to help understand each stage. I disagreed with her on the head being the biggest part because I have had a child get stuck during delivery because her shoulders were bigger than her head. But in general she was very good at explaining a normal delivery.
This might be something that I can get my husband to watch with me.
I’ll have some followup questions for my next OB appt if my baby has dropped or not. Looking forward to learning from these videos. Some of the women have to get up sooo much to pee at night. Luckily I am going around 1-2 times a night. Not 4-6 like some of women. Im almost 37 weeks now, so the most exciting one is the labor one. But I think the breastfeeding and newborn care would be great for both of us to watch.
I’d be most excited to watch the newborn care video, this is my 3rd child but it’ll be 7 years since i’ve had a newborn when this baby is born and it’s my significant others first child so between him being brand new at this, and me being rusty I think it would be informative and helpful for both of us.
I also posted the bonus on my twitter account. It’s http://www.twitter.com/knoetzelman
She does a really good job. I had to laugh over the bladder description as this is our daughters first baby and she’s always been good at holding ‘it’ in LOL….
I tweeted
I’m most excited about the breastfeeding DVD, I think.. because I feel like that’s what I know the least about!! Although it’s hard to pick, I want all 3 for my first due in Dec.!
I just tweeted!! I’m @babydickey and my tweet is here: http://twitter.com/babydickey/status/3184246609
Just finished watching the video on the home page @ http://www.laughandlearn.com/. I just gained so much information and laughed most of the way through it! Sheri is pretty funny. I know now the three measurements that the doctor will be looking at towards the end of the pregnancy/going into delivery (station, effacement, and dilation) and the 6 signs that you are getting ready to have the baby.
I am 18 weeks pregnant and although I have a long way to go, I am so thrilled to be taking in all this information. These videos seem to be filled with all the tidbits of information that I am looking for. I hope I win!!!
I also tweeted about this awesome contest! I am @cmeteach and you can see my tweet here: http://twitter.com/cmeteach
I just tweeted the post! (http://twitter.com@ashluvslive)
I think the most interesting thing I learned from this video is the meaning and description of dilation- I didn’t realize you aren’t actually 10cm in the end…first time mommy.
And knowing that ‘100%, minus 2 and 3′ is the effacement, station and dilation seems helpful for when I’m in the room with the nurse and doctor. Very educational video and she was pretty funny the whole time! I hope I win!!!

due january 7th, 2010!
I really enjoyed watching the video on the website! I think my husband might actually not hate having to sit down and watch these
.
I had no idea that there wasn’t some kind of way they measured dilation with a little ruler or something… Now I know it’s just how many fingers fit… weird…
THe laugh and learn video looks great. Well they all look great.
I am definitely anxious about breastfeeding, so I would be very interested in the Laugh and Learn about Breastfeeding DVD…although I’d love to watch all of them!
As a first time Momma to be, I’m excited about all the videos! But, I guess the Anatomy and Preliminary Signs of Labor video would be the most helpful right now.
I love Sheri! I could really use the “Laugh and Learn About Childbirth” video because my husband and I skipped out early on our childbirth class through the hospital because we were falling alseep. I am due in less than 2 weeks and we could really use some professional information before we experience our first birth.
Oops I forgot to mention something I learned from the video on Sheri’s website. I learned that I will actually have a good bowel movement right before the baby comes. Thank God because these Iron vitamins are driving me nuts!
I’m actually excited for my husband to watch all three! I have 2 kids from a previous marriage but they are already 13 and 9. We are due with our first in Nov. and while I am getting back into the “baby mode”, this is all pretty new for him! BTW, I love your blog!
also just twittered at http://twitter.com/rifkas
I took a child birth class, but I learned great stuff from the free video on the website. I knew about the stations, but not about how the structure of the pelvis helps determine the markers. I also have kind of suspected that a 10 dialation is different for everyone, but this was the first time it was confirmed. I liked hearing the 6 signs of preliminary labor, especially the part about weight stabilization!
Alas, I do not have a twitter account, so this is my one and only entry.
Finally got around to watching the video. Way more informative than most similar things, but she still had some misinformation, sadly. The main one is a common idea amoung medpros, so I wasn’t surprised, just disappointed. And at least she was only partially wrong about the baby not dropping being a concern. Some women just don’t have babies drop until labour, even the first one. One of things the doctor who cut me tried to use to prove I was “too small to ever give birth” was that my baby was still floating at 40w5d. Since I gave birth to 2 babies after that, one of whom was turned sideways, not dropping is obviously not necessarily a sign of anything. At least she pointed out that lots of second babies don’t drop at all, though. I know too many women who were told they had to have a cesarean because baby #2, 3 etc hadn’t dropped. The other one which disappointed me is her saying that nothing brings on Braxton Hicks contraction, because dehydration can cause them. And if you stay dehydrated/get even more dehydrated, it will push you into labour.
I am most excited about watching the breastfeeding video. I am 21 weeks along with my first and I know it will be nice to have all the advice I can get. All of these videos look like they would be fun and interesting to watch.
I am due March 1st, and am thinking I would like to nurse, so I’d like to check out the breast feeding DVD
I would like to enter, I am most excited about the breastfeeding DVD. I am very willing to do it and I hear it can be very difficult at times so I could use all the help I can get
I also just posted on my Twitter
http://twitter.com/kandy_kyd_rabit
I would love the video on breastfeeding. It is very important to myself and my husband to breastfeed, but all of our friends that are new parents stopped after about two weeks because they couldn’t get the hang of it.
P.S. I love your website!
ooh this videos look amazing! i would love to have these!
I would love to see what these movies have to show!!!
I’m most excited about the baby care DVD because I am due in 3 weeks and neither me nor my husband have ever changed a diaper.
the dvds look intresting.
I just tweeted:

I’m expecting twins, so I’m most interested in the information in the Breastfeeding DVD on twins. Sounds like Ms. Bayles has some information on the subject, which I’m definitely open to.
I love the diarrhea commentary. & how it’s the one thing the men remembered. Typical.
Oh, and I tweeted & cool stuff like that.

First things first – before I can worry about caring for baby or breastfeeding, I have to worry about knowing as much about labor as I can. A few weeks back, a local woman made the news by giving birth in her car while on the freeway en route to the hospital…I’m hoping to know what the signs of real labor are so I can leave the house with more than enough time to spare.
Not sure if it’s past 9 PM CST but here’s my entry!
OMG – that was SOOOO funny! I wasn’t too sure, but I love this!! Even if I don’t win, I may buy this pack. She said everything in such a great way and kinda’ like I think of things

Also, I feel sooo much better about labor now. I always wonder about how it ‘feels’ and that was genius of her to explain it like working out with weights. Makes sense!
Other things I learned:
2nd child you dilate before efface… interesting – maybe that’s why I was born in 45 minutes
Braxton Hicks can start from 25 weeks on
Your burst of energy at the end is only for 48 hours! Knowing me, I’ll probably sleep through half of it
I’m so glad you shared this!!!
I’m due Oct 30th with our first baby and going w/ a water birth (that is if our lil pumpkin cooperates!:) All three of these DVDs look amazing, but I think I am most excited to watch the childbirth & nursing DVDs! I’m sure all three could help a first time mom a TON!!!:)
Congrats on baby monkey! Your blog has helped me understand things and prepare for my journey through pregnancy & motherhood! Thank you both for sharing your experience!!!
Hey everyone!
I know I said 9 PM CST… It’s 10:09 PM right now. Baby Monkey kept Jane and I VERY busy tonight.

I’m now 19 and experiencing being a dad. I must say although it feels good it’s still hard. I knew it wouldn’t be easy but to be honest, the hard part is having to balance time. My daughter is great and makes managing her never dreadful. -Teen dad
TeenDad – Congrats man! My hat is off to you for stepping up. You’re right, managing your own child is never dreadful.
