I remember you saying in an earlier blog that you did not feel you had bonded with Monkey because you didn’t know what he needed all the time. Well Jane, just re-read what you wrote above. You are BONDED! Being able to anticipate Monkey’s needs is a matter of experience, not bonding. You will (and probably already have) learn how to tell what he needs through practice and experience.

Bonding is looking at Monkey and the world stops spinning because of the overwhelming love you feel.

Bonding is how you smile to yourself just at the thought of his eyes looking at you (you’re smiling now, aren’t you?).

Thank you for writing this blog. My little one is not due till November, and I am at high risk for PPD too. Reading what you and Tarzan had experienced this past month is really valuable to me, as I prepare for our new arrival. I am so glad you took the right steps to take care of yourself. Have fun with Monkey on his second month!
