I did it! I’m 11 weeks pregnant and I just couldn’t take the uncomfortable bloat that was causing my jeans and shirts to be just a little too tight (read: uncomfortable to the point where I only wanted to wear lounge pants).
Me and Tarzan went to Old Navy today because I heard there were really great sales for maternity clothes. And really ,who wants to pay full price for clothes that you only need while pregnant? I think I did pretty well on what I got. In total, I picked up 4 outfits and it only cost me $54. That’s amazing!
I had a hang-up about buying maternity clothes now.
I’m only 11 weeks pregnant and I didn’t want it to look like I was totally jumping the gun. F*ck it though. When you’re not comfortable, you need to do something about it. Whether the answer is elastic pants or not, do what will make you feel good. And, believe me, the elastic felt like pure heaven.
No word of a lie.
I didn’t want to take off the maternity pants (never thought I would say that!). Even the shirts I got fit so nice in all the right places. Just that little bit of extra material in the belly around makes a big difference. Ahh, how nice it will be to wear my maternity clothes at 11 weeks pregnant and not feel like a stuffed sausage. Or a fat ass. I’m pretty damn excited, I tell ya!
Instead of trying to see how long you can stand your pre-pregnancy pants and shirts with pregnancy bloat, I say to go out and buy some maternity wear. You will feel so much better and, like I told Tarzan, I just might want to stop being a hermit now. The right clothes can make this awkward first trimester of pregnancy just that much better and easier. And that’s a promise!
