A baby to sleep through the night…
What every parent yearns for after having many sleep-deprived nights in the beginning of their baby’s life. I’ve been so nervous to post about Monkey successfully sleeping through the night because I’m scared the second I do I will jinx his whole sleeping pattern.
But yes, my friends, Monkey has successfully established a bedtime routine (eat, bath, eat, bed) and he has consistently been sleeping 10+ hours each night.
I was worried about how many hours a soon-to-be three month old should be sleeping and I found that it’s about 15 hours a day. It looks like Monkey is right on track with this chart. Although he doesn’t take three naps per day. It’s more like one big nap in the afternoon.
But I’m not worried because all babies are different & whatever he is doing is working for him (& us)!
So… I just had to brag about my 11.5 week old sleeping through the night. Yippee!!

Awesome! That is wonderful news!
Congrats! It’s always such a relief. Somehow it seems that everything gets so much better around the three month mark.
Woo Hoo! Congrats! Now you try and get some sleep too!
Lucky you, my 15 wk old slept through the night up until last week ..now he’s teething.
Congratulations! Its always a big step getting to the “sleeping through” the night. But as Tracylynne said….its all good until the teething starts
Congrats! Ours went a 7 hour stretch last night, which had me stoked! He still naps pretty frequently during the day…though most are less than 30 minutes, so I’m hoping he’ll start combining some of those and sleeping a bit longer at night!
Thats great Jane… I think we have a pretty good pattern in place now as well at 9 weeks my little one is sleeping from 6pm till around midnight and then wakes for a feed and goes straight back to sleep till between 4 – 5 am then back to sleep till around 8 am and hey presto it is 5 past nine in the morning and she has gone back to sleep she generally will be awake from 11am onwards though but I am happy enough with that at the moment
Last night she did wake a few times wanting to feed but she had her vacinations yesterday so I was expecting her to be a little unsettled
We have had to stop using the swing our little girl has Plagiocephaly a flat spot on her head so we are trying to correct it as she favors the right side of her head. and she loved sleeping in the swing so this had created a few new challenges for us last week getting her settled but i think we are now pass that
Also one other question is Monkey sleeping in his own room now? if so how long was he sleeping in your room for our little one is still sleeping in her bassinette in our room I am not asure how long we should keep this up for.
I am JEALOUS. My lil one is 3 months and still no sleeping through the night
LOTS of naps during the day though.
Oh wow! I have hope!! My little guy will be 5 weeks tomorrow, and he sleeps better during the day than night, so therefore I feel at this point that i will NEVER sleep again. Ever. LOL! You give me hope as all of my other friends do too when they tell me of their under 3 month old sleeping all night. *fingers crossed* and CONGRATS!
My little guy started sleeping through the night at 10 weeks so I know the joy you are feeling! Congrats to you, Tarzan and Monkey–and may you have many more well-rested nights ahead of you!
Woo hoo! That’s such a great milestone! Our little one is due in 3 weeks, and I’m already dreading 3 (or more!) months of not sleeping through the night. Enjoy!!
Congratulations! I know how that feels…it is the best feeling in the world!
Just a comment re: teething. My baby started sleeping through the night at 10 weeks and although we had a couple blips at growth spurts continued to do so even through teething. So, hopefully Monkey will as well! Just because it happens to other folks doesnt mean it will happen to you!
Wow, that’s what I want!! My baby is about 11 weeks. What are your tips? Do you do a larger feeding before bed-time? What about the diaper, how does it get through the night? I’d love any tips…our baby sleeps 3-4 hour stretches at night and naps in the day time but I’m still up twice at night to feed him and he fusses before going back to sleep…. would love any tips!!!
