I know this is a little old . . . I'm catching up now that I'm expecting my own little person. But - I wanted to point out this website: http://theshapeofamother.com/.
It seems to be one that has hundreds of different pictures of moms, it was very uplifting to me, not sure if everyone would like it after reading but just thought I'd offer it!

How much would you pay to avoid 85% of household arguments? For us, that dollar amount turned out to be the exact same amount as having a house-keeper come twice a month. We resisted because money is tight but we soon realized it's cheaper than therapy.

I just had my first baby on August 12th, 2009 and I've always been a small person 125lbs for me was the largest I ever was, so when I went up to 173lbs you could say it made me unhappy. But now my little one is 11 weeks old and I'm down to 130lbs but I've still got a flabby tummy and I really dont know how to get rid of it :( I'm not trying to piss anyone off but since I've had my little girl I've exercised maybe three times so I guess that explains my belly size but I really wanna get rid of it I'm just not motivated enough. Any suggestions?

The muscle I had from walking while I was pregnant to make the labor easier has now turned to fat while I lay around feeding my Biscuit. I am also, as of this week, exercising and walking to get that muscle back and melt the baby fat away.
I found myself wearing dress pants around the house to remind myself that I need to keep working on it! I feel your pain! My favorite dress pants, that I wore comfortably at 5 months pregnant, are now very tight in the thighs and butt.
Good luck to me and you and all the others working on this.

I'm 8 weeks post-partum and I was rocking the maternity jeans (yes, still--I gained 50 pounds with my daughter and don't own a scale, but I'd guess I still have 20 lbs to go) until I read your post. Then, you want to know what I did? I went out and BOUGHT NEW PANTS. That's right. And I got rid of all the maternity clothes. I cannot tell you how lovely it was to wear pants that fit without an elastic waist. So my advice to you: MILF yourself right this second, not by a treadmill, but by a trip to Target. Buy some 'tween clothes that make you feel less frumpy and close your closet doors for now to all of your pre-preg clothes that are laughing at you. It made me feel better, and I hope it makes you feel better, too.

Good luck, hun! I hope you make it work. It's totally ok to let yourself go a little though, if you want to wear lounge clothes and no make up when you're at home, do it! Maybe just going out, even a quick trip to the store, add a little make up, brush your hair (I'm guilty of not brushing too, I chopped my hair short just to avoid it! lol), and throw on a necklace or a little something. It does a lot for your confidence, even if you don't feel like "you". I'm 7 months out, and still don't feel like me. I've lost ALL the baby weight, and I'm still not down to the size I was before. You may get small again, but don't expect your old wardrobe to fit like they used to. It may never happen because you body has totally revamped itself. I went from a size 3 in juniors clothes to a 10 in womens, and like I said, I lost all the baby weight, so what happened?! lol

I'm 39 weeks pregnant; our pumpkin is due October 29th :) I can see myself in your shoes 3 months or so from now. My big butt has grown since being pregnant; something I wish I would have known before buying all my maternity pants! Anyhow, I'm going back to work after the maternity leave ends (boo!). I will have to get in shape (boot camp?) or I'll be wearing my very summer maternity clothes with sweaters. I'm SO tired of these clothes now. I live in Georgia and the weather is warmer so I've been lucky to not have to buy another season's worth of clothes. I wish you luck. I love your blog : ) You're a great motivation!

I hear you on the need to find some motivation. My son is 12 weeks old, and I've been able to loose a little with eating healthier, but I still have 10lbs and lots of toning to do. I've been having a really hard time getting to the gym (translate to: having my husband watch our son when he gets home from work). It would be great to find an exercise video or plan that incorporates babies! Let us know what work out you are planning to do, and maybe some of us can join in.
Best of luck!

i, like becoming sarah, am nowhere near being on top of the house cleaning and it's almost 3 months since the little guy was born. nor do i have the whole "shower daily" routine down. i'm ok with that for some reason (not sure if my husband is down with it), but i figure i will get there. as for exercising, i still have 15 of the 50 pounds i gained to go. breast feeding is taking off the poundage, but also adding to the problem on my upper half :) i will love to support you and have your support. it helps to have a cheering section!
i took someone's suggestion on one of your posts and got jillian michael's 30 day shred. i will start that tomorrow - and let you know if it's any good! i was pretty hard-core in shape before i got pregnant, so i'm usually skeptical about the effectiveness of DVD workouts (for ME, personally - everyone responds differently to different exercise) but i like the idea of 20 minutes of an intense workout - perfect to do with a napping baby.
this leads me to a new problem though....the whole showering thing...i guess i can't torture my husband THAT much.

Yes! I know EXACTLY how you feel! I gained OVER 65lbs during pregnancy. I say "over" because that was the last weight I got about 2 weeks before giving birth, I probably gained another 10 who knows.
I need to lose 48lbs to get to my pre-pregnancy weight. I rejoined weight watchers & struggling a bit...I've always done so well on it in the past. So on Thursday I rejoined the gym & have been going every day. I also got "Nike Plus" to work with my iPod nano...I love electronics so maybe being able to use something to get me to move my ass will help. I bought ONE pair of regular jeans & wear them every single day because I feel funny wearing my *full panel* maternity jeans. If I had the maternity jeans that had just the thin elastic on the waist or the roll panel I wouldn't care but the full panel...no.
We will get there girl! You are my "due date twin" (even tho my baby was born July 31st) so we WILL get thin again!
