Note to self: Next time it is late and you realize that Monkey is out of size 2 diapers (how exactly did that happen?) do not be lazy and put a size 1 diaper on him. Especially at night when he sleeps for 12 hours.
It just creates a ton more work for you because the poop will leak out of the size 1 diaper & go all over his sleepsack. & it doesn’t stop there. The poop will soak through the sleepsack & get on the crib sheet.
Instead of taking the 10 minutes to drive to CVS & buy more size 2 diapers for the night, now you have to wash a poop-filled sleepsack & the fun doesn’t stop there. You will have to remove not one, but both mobiles off of the crib, which is quite the pain. Then you will have to take the crib mattress out of the crib & remove the poop-filled sheet & put it in the washing machine.
Then you will have to make sure that there is not a trace of poop on the mattress protector thing & mattress. Then you will have to put another sheet on the crib mattress & place the mattress back into the crib. Then you will have to make sure that the bedskirt sheet thing is still hanging out just how you like it & if it isn’t, you’ll have to remove the mattress once again to fix it.
Once the mattress is back in the crib, you will have to screw on both mobiles on the crib, in the 4th hole on each side so that it is even. You will obsessively screw & screw until you are absolutely positive that the mobile will not fall off into the crib & hurt your son.
Seriously, next time, just suck it up, go change out of your pj’s & buy the damn size 2 diapers. It will save you a lot (& I mean a lot) of time.

LOL This is SO true..we’ve found this type of thing out as well…except Dominic fell asleep in his rocky chair, & soaked it…thank God it wasn’t poop!
awww bless your heart! And if it was me, I wouldn’t even bother to change out of my PJs. Run in, grab the diapers & run out. Who cares. And cheap diapers? Pffft. All 3 of mine would pee or poop right thru em. Regular Huggies? They fell apart. Cleaning up pee soaked gel that has been scattered thru the house cause the diaper fell apart is NOT fun either. Thank GOD we had hardwood floors. Huggies Supreme or Pampers were the only ones that worked. You’re doing a great job, Mama!! *hugs*
LOL… this should be another version of the “If you give a mouse a cookie” book !!!!
I’m with Kari. Wear the PJs to the store.
hahahahahaha Thanks for the warning!!!! And size 2 already? God I feel like I’m getting old now lol
Oh noooooooooo! What a mess!
Lesson learned, I guess?
Size 2??? My sweet little boy is two weeks younger than Monkey and he is in size 3!! I have a chunk on my hands! He is 16 pounds!
Unless you were wearing something completely weather inappropriate, I’m going to add my vote for wearing the PJs to the store too. I’m sure you will be far from the first mom to walk into a drugstore at night in her PJs to buy diapers
and you definitely wouldn’t be the last.
One of our favorite mottos around here is “Live and learn.” Sometimes things go wrong, but when you’re kids are all grown, you’ll have lots and lots of motherly advice to share

Hmmm… I think I mentioned that ages ago.
Sorry, that must’ve sucked.
Here is a tip I got from a fellow veteran mommy of three:
She keeps multiple layers on her crib… she has mattress pad + protector + sheet and then alternates with a protector and a sheet, for 3 layers or so. So then, when ( and I say when, not if) there is a diaper blowout or vomit at night, she can just strip a layer off throw it in the washer and already have one ready to go on the crib and baby just goes back down.
Go get this thing called a sheet protector. Get two. You put them over the sheet for this exact reason. When there’s an accident – and there will be more – you just pull up the sheet protector and put down the second one. Clean baby and put him back down and take care of the rest in the morning!
I learned this from someone with far more experience than I: double up. The sheets, the mattress pad. Double ‘em. That way, in the middle of the night if necessary you can just pull off the top layer and whala! New sheets ready to rock.
The sheet protectors didn’t work for us because our monkey moved around so much at night, but the doubling sure did. . . We never had a poo blowout (we use cloth and blowouts have only happened in disposables for me so far) but we’ve had plenty of spit-up that soaked everything.
Size 2? And someone else mentioned size 3 diapers? Holy crap! My Peanut will be three months tomorrow and we JUST switched over to size 1! She is a bit over ten pounds now. Crazy!
Never had the poop blow-out experience, but I did have the puke in the middle of the night experience…and had to change sheets, guardian sleepers, clothing, etc. Not fun!
I am a huge fan of diaper.com. They will deliver bulk diapers to your door for standard rate within 24 hours!
LOL that really sucks, but thanks for the laugh! My little man is almost 8 weeks and is about to bust out of his size 1’s lol
LOL!!! I’m gonna die of laughter…My little guy blew through diaper sizes, he’s 7 months and in 3s. When he was first born, we couldn’t even keep a newborn/preemie diaper from leaking (they were too big)…EVERY time this kid woke up, which was lot when he was first born, I would have to change everything. It’s not fun. I can’t wait til he’s a size 4 and I can put him in overnight Huggies. lol…You’re not allowed to be lazy when you’re a mom, lesson learned.
