Today was our 2nd pregnancy appointment with my OB. I was really excited because I was hoping that we would get to hear the baby’s heartbeat.
As we were sitting in the waiting room, I started to get nervous. Of course, all kinds of thoughts rushed into my mind and I started taking deep breaths to calm myself down.
When we got in the room the nurse weighed me. I hate, hate, hate weighing myself with clothes on, especially when I’m wearing jeans and two shirts layered. I guess that’s besides the point though.
I gained 1 pound, so that isn’t too bad. Surprisingly though, that 1 pound (plus bloat) has made my waist thicken to the point that my jeans are hard to button and very uncomfortable to wear.
Next on the list was to take my blood pressure. I have such an issue with taking my blood pressure at the dr.’s office. I take my blood pressure almost daily at home, and it is always normal. Always. Without fail, every time I get it taken at the doctor’s office it is high. Like 124/88 high. Ugh. So frustrating.
Does this happen to anyone else??
The doctor came in next and she asked how I had been feeling and if I had been sick. Then she pulled out the doppler, squirted some jelly on my belly, and tried to find the heartbeat. After waiting for a few minutes, she couldn’t find it on my abdomen, so she tried to find it vaginally. She inserted the thing that looks like a dildo and immediately found the heartbeat.
The heartbeat!
Yep, it’s all real. I’m pregnant and I have a baby growing in my belly. Wow. It was pretty amazing to hear. And it was a strong 168 bpm. How fun!
After my appointment Tarzan and I went to lunch. We are both getting excited about this baby. The initial shock of “Oh my gosh I’m pregnant and we weren’t planning it” has started to fade into feelings of “Wow, we are going to be parents and we are excited”.
It was a great appointment and a such a new joy in our lives to hear the heartbeat!

We just heard our baby's heartbeat last week and my husband's face just lit up. He is in shock and extremly excited. What a wonderful sound it was to us! Especially since we haven't seen the baby yet via ultrasound. =)
