Look Mom, No Hands!

baby unassisted sittingLadies & Gentlemen, we have a sitter!  A real unassisted-for-a-very-long-time sitter.

Monkey has been, uh, balancing himself I guess you would say, while sitting assisted for a few seconds for a couple of weeks now.

I’ve felt like he was thisclose to the real thing, but he would always topple over to the side after 10 seconds max.  Today we were playing on his mat & I let go of him to see what would happen.

After he held his “I’m sitting like a big boy” position consistently without falling, I yelled down to Tarzan that our little boy is growing up.  Then we skyped with the grandparents (Tarzan’s dad & stepmom) & showed them the big news.  It was slightly funny because they looked at me like, “Yeah, he’s sitting, ok” so I explained to them that sitting unassisted is huge in baby world.  Then they got it.  & then they started showing some excitement.  Ha, ha.

Sometimes these big baby things just need to be explained I suppose.

But yeah, our little boy is growing.  He’s already 5.5 months, sitting up, & growing like a weed.  Next thing I know he’ll be crawling & eating solid foods.  Wow, watching your baby grow up is absolutely amazing.  & a little sad because it happens SO fast.

But all sadness aside, he’s growing up whether I like it or not.  Hey Monkey, you can crawl soon, but slow down after that!  I don’t want my baby growing up THAT fast.  OK?

I'm looking forward to my little girl learning to sit. Then she can stop! Right now she always demands we prop her up with a pillow or bouncer if she's awake since she wants to see everything. And my goodness, if she falls down or ends up on her back do we hear about it! She's 12 weeks right now!

wow I can't believe it's been that long......

I found your blog when I googled "whats normal for baby farts" last week! Tarzan's post about baby poo cracked me up and I was hooked. What started with a quick search about my 3 month's old "gas" and I ended up reading your blog with every spare minute I had this weekend! Just a quick thank you for posting about your journey! I'm just a couple months behind you and I wish I would have found your blog sooner. I had a lot of the same struggles post pregnancy and it was such a relief to find out that I'm not alone.
Way to go Monkey on sitting up! I'm trying to get my little guy to roll over...no luck yet but I'm sure it's just around the corner! Babies grow so fast! (It's such a strange feeling to put his "too small" clothes away, time FLIES!)
I'm looking forward to future posts!

That's awesome! Mine just started sitting up too! It's so wonderful to see our babies growing up.

Sitting is great!! And you're going to wish you NEVER asked for him to crawl. Lol. They become terrors when they can get to wherever they want. But it's still very much amazing how well they get around on all fours, and they're FAST. You'll turn your back for two seconds and he'll take off on you and you'll be chasing the runaway baby through out the house, trying to not trip over baby toys. It's GREAT exercise!

Love your blog! I just discovered you on Twitter and followed you to your blog. You're hysterical! What a journey...I can relate. You sound like a wonderful mommy. Your fun is just starting! My best advice...maintain a great sense of humor and ALWAYS make time for yourself and "alone" time for you and your husband. It's so easy to revolve your entire world around your baby until you wake up one day and forget who you are inside. You'll be a better mom and happier person if you treat yourself like the goddess you are.

That's awesome!! Yay Monkey! You go boyy!
