Little guy fell twice in the past few weeks and there is nothing that breaks your heart more-even scarier is he has started crawling…. I can’t imagine when he starts walking…

If babies weren’t so resilient there probably wouldn’t be so many adults around! I’m sure Monkey will be just fine. I tripped while carrying my son through an open grassy field once. Even though it was a grassy area and my arms had cushioned his fall, he wasn’t a year old yet and as new parents we decided to err on the side of caution and take him to the ER to be checked out. Docs basically told us what they told you. Since then he’s tripped, split his lip open, driven his tricycle off the couch (don’t ask!), dislocated his elbow twice…all without lasting effects. He’s in 1st grade right now and doing very well too! Like another commenter said, it’s a rite of passage for new parents.

We are awful parents. We have let our Peanut fall three times now. Each time we keep saying NEVER again will we do “this” or “that” because we never want it to happen again. And then we forgot about “the other thing” and it happens again. So sad, but she has been fine every time. Resilient little buggers, aren’t they???

Just for the record, we swear we really aren’t bad parents!!!

Sophia, same age as yours, had her first bonk last week. She was in my lap as I sat on our hardwood floor. I was not paying attention as she threw herself backwards and bonked the back of her head on the floor. She was very upset and so was I though she didn’t travel far at all for the bonk. Poor gal, but she’s fine and I’m more weary!

Oh man, my son has had his first fall too. Off the bed. I was nanoseconds away from catching him, and I of course called the pediatrician right away. Even though she assured me he was fine, I had a knot in my stomach the whole day. That has to be one of the most horrible feelings ever, but as a mother of little boy, I think I’m in for a few more bumps and bruises.

Our son had his first fall yesterday! He’s 8 months old and rolled right off our bed, landed face first on our carpet after hitting the edge of our platform bed. I was TERRIFIED. He was FINE other than the initial 10 seconds of scared crying. His redmark didn’t even last the day!

Jane it’s happened to me twice now… both times felt like the wolrds worse mother,

First time she was on the lounge next to me,, I turn to pick up the phone and before you know she was on the floor screaming her little heart out took her to the doctors she was fine. second time was after a night that i was awake all night with her at about 9 am that morning i was tired i brought her in to my bed to feed I fell asleep and i woke to her faceplanting the floor. I could not believe i fell asleep. both times she was fine just got a really bad fall but we also have hard floors so its always scary… I was told to watch out for the same things but Paige was fine. I will think of monkey..PS Paige has started crawling 3 weeks ago and now pulling her self up on furniture and the cot I am freaking out all the time now

Strange, our son just had his first big fall today, he managed to push open the basement door which was closed but didn’t latch right shut for some reason and he crawled to the edge and fell down an entire flight of stairs into the basement floor. Our doctor checked him out this afternoon and deemed him ok and told us the same as your doctor told you. Glad your little one is ok and so is mine, but gosh it sure is scary to know that something HORRIBLE happened and what could have been much worse…

Oh wow, yeah, I’m so thankful I don’t have hard floors right now!
On another note, I’d find a new pediatrician. That’s ridiculous that they didn’t get back to you. If I call mine, I just ask for a nurse and I get one. I think there’s only been one occasion where she had to call me back and that was within an hour or so.

I so dread this day. My little girl will be four months old tomorrow, so next time I blink she’ll be crawling and sitting and walking….and falling.
