What does a nap & a bloody nose have in common, you ask?

noseSometimes for Monkey’s afternoon nap, when I am tired too, we take a nap together in my bed.  Yesterday I was singing him the “ABC” song, which he loves before he goes to sleep for some reason.  He usually moves a bunch at first & then he’ll quiet down & go to sleep.

While he was rolling around & exploring my face, his little finger went into one of my nostrils.  & it went in there hard.  It all happened so fast that before I knew it my nose was bleeding.  For the first time ever in my entire life.

Naturally I freaked out because my nose has never bled, but everything was fine.  It hurt for a little while & I wanted to scream all sorts of obscenities.  But I also wanted to laugh because Monkey was looking at me with such concern.  It was sweet.  After realizing that my nose was going to be just fine, I cuddled with Monkey & we fell asleep.

I guess this is my lesson to make sure to catch his little fingers before they injure my nostril, poke out an eye, or grab one of my eyelashes (his latest favorite “game”).

Ow! Cute little kid. My little guy likes to scratch at my face when he's mad : ) It drives me crazy!!

@MVP when my guy start biting me at 10 or 11 months I would say "owe" very exagerated and say "don't bite mommy, it hurts"pretending I was hurt, my reaction scared him and he'd cry. This happened 2 or 3 more times and he got. He'd lean in to bite my arm and I'd say "don't bit mommy" and he'd stop. That put an end to that one.

My LO just bit my cheek. He opened up wide like he was gonna give me a sloppy baby kiss and CHOMP! I put him down in the crib right away and walked out of his room (I was putting him down for bed). I hope he got the picture. I'm currently wondering how to teach a 9-month-old how to NOT do something. Not easy.
@soverfelt- I get that too!

Paige does the same, I called it her facial reconstruction phase..... She has given my a sty in my eye from grabbing at my eye, she shived her fingers up my nose, pinches my lips and nect, grabs my boobs and pinches my nipples, punched and kicked in the liver, bladder and every other vital organ . Dad has not escaped this either, we are wondering what we did to get such a violent child lol I know she means no harm but gosh it can hurt.. Hopefully this stage will pass soon

Ouch! Jane sorry about that. That must have really hurt. The other day my I was playing with my two year old daughter and she pushed her head back with force and cracked my nose. I felt the pain in my brain I screamed and my hussy came running.

@S Overfelt I remember when my guy would pull off and poke and pry at my nipple he was fasinated where the milk came from.

Ouch thats no fun! My boy's latest thing, is while nursing he will pull off and look at my nipple with fascination and then grab it with his pinching fingers. Owwwww. Or while he is latched and still full of wiggles he will pinch the skin and roll it in his fingers. So funny what he finds amusing. This reminds me that I should trim his nails again before another pinching session.
