Mommy instinct – I have it!

by Jane on August 31, 2010 · 4 comments

ear infectionYesterday I took Monkey to the pediatrician because I was convinced that there was something else going on with him.  The past two weeks have just been a little too out of ordinary for him.  I have never brought the stroller into the office, but something inside me told me to bring it.

Boy am I glad I did!

I’ve never seen the waiting room as crowded as it was.  The “sick” side of the room was completely packed, while there were a few seats left on the “well” side.  We took our seats & started to chat it up with the people sitting by us.  Thankfully talking to others made the time pass because we were in the waiting room for 1.5 hours.

We’ve never had to wait that long.  I chalk it up to the fact that it was a Monday & school has started.  & we all know how full of germs school is.

Anyways, once the pediatrician looked into Monkey’s ears he told me that he has an ear infection.  I was happy.  Obviously, not happy that my son has pain in his ears, but relieved (better word) that there is something going on with him to make him cranky.

Isn’t mother’s intuition great?!

I feel like a “real” mom… I knew something wasn’t right with my child & I was right.  If you ever feel like this with your child, go with your instinct.  Really.  There is a reason that we are all moms.

yeah I also follow my instinct. Of course, if you see that there is something different with him, you really got worried.

I dont think my thing posted before.. Anyway.. I was just going to say that i agree that mommies intuition is GREAT! my daughter was acting weird and she was being grouchy and wanted to be in my lap CONSTANTLY and I took her to the doc to find out she had an ear infection also. It was rough and the antibiotics gave her diarrhea (which went on for a total of 2 weeks). Its just nice to know that when i thought something was wrong that it wasnt me just being paranoid but it was me actually knowing my child and having mothers intuition

Hi and thank you, there is a 19 year gap between my second child and my third child now, and I am not sure if I got my "mommy intution" back. So, you have given me hope. I thought I would automatically have it but, this time around, I feel like I am a total clutz with my 1 year old. Hopefully, my " mommy intution" will kick in any day now.

Yay, i am so glad I found your website again. used to talk to you on twitter, but got rid of phone. lol. Glad to hear Monkey is growing great, and sorry to hear about his ear. Those infections suck. Yay for mommies intuition, and I always follow it. if the Dr doesn't listen, I normally keep taking him back, and about the third time what ever it was that was starting is at full speed by that point. I think everyone should listen to mommies intuition.
