A Mother’s Prayer

by Jane on September 3, 2010 · 8 comments

Dear Lord, it’s such a hectic day,
With little time to stop and pray,
For life’s been anything but calm,
Since you called on me to be a mom.
Running errands, matching socks,
Building dreams with building blocks.
Cooking, cleaning, and finding shoes,
And other stuff that children lose.
Fitting lids on bottled bugs,
Wiping tears and giving hugs.
A stack of last week’s mail to read,
So where’s the quiet time I need?
Yet when I steal a minute Lord,
Just at the sink or ironing board,
To ask the blessings of your grace,
I see then in my small one’s face,
That you have blessed me all the while,
As I stop to kiss that precious smile.

What a great prayer...so true we get caught up in our days and forget to give thanks and praise!

I love this prayer :) its very true for a mom

This is definitely a typical mother's prayer. In our harried existence we have only periodic bursts of silence [at time we can even find quietness in our hearts/minds not in reality] in which we can communicate with God. I have learnt to pray in very unimaginable places; in the car, on my table at work, in the kitchen, in the supermarket and even in the loo. I just send a shout out to HIM whenever I get a free moment and with HIS Infinite wisdom he sure understands. But I am very thankful for this harried live we lead because we have been blessed with such lovely kids who love us unconditionally.

Oh, how I love this poem. Doesn't it describe all our days so perfectly? Thank you so much for sharing!

This is a very nice prayer for all the mother's. I would like to have a copy of this too.

This is wonderful. Thanks for sharing!

I'm borrowing this :) Thanks for sharing Jane!

Ok, that's so sweet, I almost started crying...
