Coupons and Coupon Codes: We Use Them Daily

by Tarzan · 6 comments

Let’s face it. Today we need to save as much money as we can, especially in this crazy economy.  Whenever and where ever Jane and I can save money on food, diapers, wipes, toys, you name it, we’re looking for coupons online and off.

Recently we received a flier from Babies R Us letting us know that we can earn up to a $60 gift card if we buy certain items.  The items included wipes, diapers, and even toilet paper of all things.  For each item you purchased, you got $5 or $10 back onto a gift card.  So today Jane will be going there and stocking up on the items we buy each week anyway and in return, come home with a $60 gift card from Babies R Us.

So what will we use the $60 Babies R Us Gift Card on? The LeapFrog LeapPad Explorer Learning Tablet (Green).  I bet this will be THE top Christmas present of 2011 for kids.  (Just a guess, who knows.)  Monkey is going to LOVE this because we always have to hide our iPad.  Since he’s broken both Jane’s iPod and my iPod, there’s no way he’s going to break our iPad!  So he’ll have his own.  The reviews are GREAT on Amazon.  Once we save up a few more coupons and gift cards from Babies R Us, we’ll have enough to get it for free. :)

MyCoupons.com – Take a Peek

my couponsAnd speaking of coupons, another site that we use is MyCoupons.com. They have hundreds of coupons and coupon codes on site from retailers like Sears, Macys, Kmart, Children’s Place, etc.  So before we buy anything online, we like to go there and see if we can find any coupon codes.  They have been around since 1995 (16 years!), so if they don’t have the codes we’re looking for, most likely no one has them.

MyCoupons also has something calls Double Deals, where you can use a gift code and a coupon to double your savings.  A couple of coupon codes we’ve recently looked into (so I know that they are still active) are TOMS shoes coupons, Nike coupons, and of course, Toys R Us coupons.

Now the funny thing is (maybe it’s a part of being a guy), I was never one to use coupons or look for coupon codes.  But I can tell you that between MyCoupons.com, offers we receive in the mail, and other sites, we have no doubt saved a good couple of thousand dollars this year, not to mention the amount of gift cards, like the $60 Babies R Us card Jane’s getting today.

Yes, we’re slowly becoming those people.  Thy type that uses coupons and coupon codes for everything.  But serious, it really adds up.  So what about you guys, where are you getting your best deals?

The diaper gift card deal that BRU has is awesome! It is even better if you use some coupons on the Pampers. Then they are even cheaper, plus you get a gift card. We definitely did that deal. I’m not sure what we are going to use the gift cards on yet, but we have some 20% off coupons and some “R” Us Dollars to use! I love getting good deals!

Thanks for the tip, saving money is always good! I use Target to buy a lot of these things but don’t get any reward in return.

Have you ever tried amazon.com/mom ? You can get up to 30% off diapers, most times free shipping, and I’ve found other things on there – everyday household stuff….that is less expensive than the store. Of course you have to compare because not everything is less. But if you sign up and you do “subscribe & save” which auto ships you items every month (or however frequent you set the pace at) you can really save money. You can always cancel a shipment or move one sooner. It’s super easy to use and we’ve saved alot of money on diapers using it. They also offer coupons on the site which decreases the costs even more. Hope this helps whomever is out there reading this. It’s been huge for us. Have a good day!

I rarely use coupons because I find they usually just entice me to buy things that I don’t need, or really want. But that comment aside I really do like coupons and deals when they let me get my core list of things for a better deal than normal. So I look for coupons on things like you said, diapers, wipes and stuff that always get used.

Thanks for the links to the coupons by the way!

I do use coupons when I remember that I have them! I have to say that BRU is so expensive even with the coupons that I think I get better deals by buying supplies like diapers and toilet paper at CostCo. Or maybe not if have to pay for the CostCo membership. My membership was a gift from my stepdad or else I may not have signed up in the first place. CostCo has all kinds of grocery items and electronics so if you have the space to store things in bulk, it’s the way to go! They do coupons, too ;-)
