My mother is an OB/GYN and I recently worked for another. There has been a definite increase in pregnancy's for the last 2 or 3 years. The big surge for 2009 will start around March here as it usually does. I expect to see an aditional increase. And at least here in Arizona I know that the teen pregnancy rate is rising. This is from personal observation but I swear a third of the pregnancy's I saw this last year were teenagers. It's funny that you decided to write about this because my friends and I were just discussing this very thing a few days ago. It was interesting to hear them argue and everything as they don't even know I'm one of those statistics now! Well, three more weeks and I finally get to let my big mouth spill the beans. The above is some pretty crazy stuff. I wonder why no one else is talking about this or have done the basic quick research putting together all of these pregnancy-related terms together? It's there in black and white (plus some added blue for a nice eye-candy bonus) that we're in for a teen pregnancy spike and baby bubble in 2009 - or at least a larger bump (pun intended) than previous years. This is a major discovery the more I think about it! I'm sure when I wake up in the morning our phone will be ringing off the hook, helicopters will be flying over, and at least 13 news crews will be outside our house waiting for me to come out and make a public statement about these new and shocking findings. I'm not looking for anything special at all from this, believe me. I mean just the Nobel Peace Prize or Publishers Clearinghouse running up to our house with a $10,000,000 check. But that's all. Oh. And an iPhone. I'm dying for an iPhone. I'm a HUGE Mac fan and I'm iPhoneless. That TOTALLY proves that I've officially put my "father-to-be" hat on because I'm being as careful as I can with finances right now.
