Hemorrhoids, Pregnancy, and Treatment

This is obviously not one of our favorite subjects, but lets face it.  Hemorrhoids and pregnancy often go together.  Fun, fun.  Right?  So how do these annoying hemorrhoids get there and why do they happen during pregnancy?

Well, hemorrhoids are connected to constipation.  It amazes me how much you learn about the woman’s body when your wife is pregnant.  Anyway, you combine constipation with the increased pressure that is happening in several areas downstairs, that is one of the main reasons why pregnant woman get hemorrhoids.  Or, if you stand for a long time during pregnancy (or any time) that can lead to hemorrhoids.

And a big one, your hormones may play a big roll in pregnancy hemorrhoids.  And we all know how those hormones can be.  They cause everything from changes to your body to changes in  your mood.  I know the changes to the mood part very well as I was nearly kicked out of the house more times than I can count during Jane’s pregnancy.

Then mix pregnancy with hemorrhoids, and you have a near earth-ending disaster on your hands.  Everyone, look out!  The deadly combination of pregnancy hormones, pregnancy hemorrhoids, the emotions, feeling fat, the strange eating habits, etc. all add up to make a bomb that is set to go off if the husband says the wrong thing!
