It’s been a crazy past two weeks with family in town visiting and Monkey’s birthday.  It’s been so crazy that I forget that I’m pregnant.  My boobs are still sore, but that’s about it.  I just go on with my days and do what I need to do.  It only crosses my mind that I’m pregnant when my husband grabs a beer and then I remember that I cannot have one.  (I really miss beer.)

So yesterday I grabbed a pregnancy test and peed on it.  I didn’t tell my husband that I was doing this, so he look dumbfounded when I announced that I was still pregnant.  He was like, “Of course you are pregnant, did you forget?”  Why yes I did forget.

Have you taken a pregnancy test weeks after getting your first positive?

I didn’t do this when I was pregnant with Monkey.  Not even tempted to do it.  I also never forgot that I was pregnant.  It was constantly on my mind.  If I wasn’t reading a book, I was looking at a magazine.  Or I was looking online to find things out.  Or I was talking to people in pregnancy forums.  I was all about pregnancy.

This time, not so much.  I guess it’s just how the second pregnancy is.  I mean, I already have a two year old that I’m chasing after and I have tons of laundry, errands, and other things that keep me busy during the day.

So tell me, I’m totally normal, yes?

Some thoughts on….

Pregnancy Week 12

There isn’t a whole lot of change with pregnancy week 12 and pregnancy week 11 photos.  Her belly is about the same.  But even though there isn’t a whole lot of change in belly size, I can see a lot of changes in Pregnant Jane.

Let’s compare pregnancy week 11 and pregnancy week 12 and see if we can see any change:

Far left is 11 weeks pregnant, black shirt is 12 weeks pregnant.  Well… not too much of a difference right?  :)  Anyway…

Her appetite is… well… let’s just say it has kicked into high gear.  That’s obviously a very good thing because that means our baby is getting some great nutrients to help him or her grow.  On the flip side, Pregnant Jane feels funny eating so much food.  I’m constantly reminding her that she’s pregnant, only in pregnancy week 12, and that she needs to eat so our baby can grow.

And of course now that her pregnant belly is sticking out a little more, she is ALWAYS and I mean DAILY asking me if she looks fat before she runs out to the store or somewhere.  I used to think it was a lot before… but holy moly!  I’m now asked 521 times a day.

My answer is always… You’re Not Fat… You’re Pregnant!  And You Look Beautiful!

And of course I truly, truly mean that.  But I can totally see where Pregnant Jane is coming from.  She is not used to having a belly and when she wears clothes she’s used to wearing, and wonders if people will think she’s fat, pregnant, or who knows what.  

Another observation from my side is that I’m getting more and more excited to see Jane’s belly grow as she advances in her pregnancy week by week.  Which reminds me, are we sill in the first trimester?  How long is the first trimester anyway?  Totally a ‘guy question’ but I can’t remember… lol

I’m realizing that I think it’s going to be very cool to see her with a pregnant belly.  Some guys are turned off by it.  In fact, Pregnant Jane just told me about someone she read about who is pregnant and her husband is totally freaked out by it.  He won’t have sex with her, let alone even touch her.  That’s sad.

But on the other side of the coin, some guys are into pregnant women.  Some find them very sexy.  For me, I’ve never thought about it or looked twice at a women who is pregnant, but seeing Jane’s pregnant belly grow… I’m starting to like it more and more and I know I’m going to think she’s VERY sexy when her pregnant belly gets bigger.

So I know I’m not alone on that one.  I have a couple of friends who are the same way.  And it’s obviously a very, very good thing that I’ll think that pregnant Jane is VERY attractive with her pregnant belly.  I know, for woman I know you think I’m weird, or something.  And if I really think about it, yeah, thinking a pregnant belly is sexy is a little strange.

But, when it’s your wife, someone you love, and she is carrying your spawn, it just takes everything to a whole new level, you know?  So I’m excited about everything.  And with Jane only being 12 weeks pregnant, we’ve got a long ways to go yet… along with some very interesting experiences we’ll be blogging about, I’m sure.

And speaking of blogging, we started this Pregnancy Blog to share our journey after the plus sign with the world.  We’re not sharing this site with any of our friends or family so we can REALLY let it all hang out without the fear of being embarrassed or holding back fearing what a friend or relative might think about us.

I was as shocked as anyone to learn that my boys could swim.  And hearing Jane on the phone a few weeks back saying to her friends, “his boys can swim!” made my head spin.

To be honest, I actually had a concern if my boys could swim or not.  I thought all of my sperm were dead.

I heard that if a guys spends a lot of time riding a bike, then that’ll kill his sperm.  I also heard that if you drank a lot of Mountain Dew when you were younger, that the yellow #5 in it would kill your sperm.  And I heard that wearing tighty whities were a sure kiss of death for a guy’s boys.  Huh.

So I rode my bike a lot.  I also drank hundreds and hundreds of gallons of Mountain Dew growing up.  I had a deep feeling inside that my boys just couldn’t swim.  I thought I was shooting blanks and I’d never hear anyone say, His Boys Can Swim! when talking about me.

Well guys, I guess Mountain Dew and all that yellow # 5 (whatever that is) doesn’t kill off your army of millions of sperm.  I guess all the bike-riding you did when you were younger didn’t cause damage.  And I guess those years of wearing our Spiderman tighty whities didn’t destroy our chances of ever getting a girl knocked up.

So as the story goes, don’t believe everything you hear guys.  Your boys are probably doing just fine and ready to start swimming their hearts out towards your wife’s or girlfriend’s egg.

And remember… all it takes is just ONE missed pill after a night of a few drinks which pregnant Jane and I found out the hard way.  (Although, the hard way is often a VERY fun way!)

Also, a bit of advice… when your wife or girlfriend says, “remind me to take my pill“, get up right then and there with your glory swinging in the air and all, and get her birth control pill.  

That is of course if you’re not actually trying to launch your boys into the ultimate swimming competition.

And you know, it’s sorta funny.  When you are stating your own pregnancy blog, a forum, or a pregnancy message board AND you are keeping your true identities secret, it get kind of lonely around these parts.  Both my wife Pregnant Jane and I have a few other blogs online (non-pregnancy or baby blogs) and we have a lot of readers and blog commenters.

But with this little side fun project, we’re not telling our friends, family, or anyone we know in the world about this pregnancy blog.  It’s our little secret.

Besides that, where else would Jane talk about – and feel comfortable in doing so – about her hairy legs?  And speaking of hairy legs, I got a little freaked out the other day.  I learned…

Pregnant Women Grow Hair SUPER FAST!

Yup. Jane is going to turn into an ape is she isn’t careful.  However, if either one of us turn into an ape, that would be fitting since we settled on the names Tarzan and Jane!

But seriously, Jane wanted be to touch her hairy legs tonight.  I wouldn’t.  She then grabbed my hand and made me touch them.   I sat there frozen.  I didn’t know what to say or do.  My wife isn’t supposed to be hairy.  Pregnant or not.

Thankfully she did shave her legs tonight.  But I’m still getting the beebie jeebies from feeling her hairy legs.

Jane… new house rule.  Leg shaving and armpit is a must.  Please.  It’s almost 3 AM and I can’t sleep because I keep thinking about how those hairy legs felt.  YUCK!
