Dear Baby T,

Hi there! I hope you are doing good swimming in my belly.  It’s nice having you in there & I hope that it’s been a great home for the past 9 months.

So I just wanted to talk to you real fast about something…

Here’s the thing:  As you know, or actually I’m guessing that you might have forgotten, your estimated due date is this Thursday, July 23rd.  I know, I know, you still technically have two days to go.  Please feel free to continue swimming & lounging around in my ute for a couple more days, but then I hope you’ll seriously consider making your appearance.

Why the hurry, you ask?

Well I would really like for labor and delivery to happen as naturally as possible, and that means no scheduled c-section.  While my OB hasn’t actually talked this route with me, I just have a little feeling that the c-section talk could come up during tomorrow’s appointment.

My OB will only let me go until 41 weeks and considering I’m almost 40 weeks, I just don’t want to have to schedule anything.  I’d much rather you come out on your own… but I guess time is running out.

The past few days I’ve felt some weird things going on in there, so I’m hoping that it’s all a good sign that labor is on its lovely way.  I also think that you’ve dropped a lot more because, quite frankly, you’re making your mom slightly (well, a lot) more uncomfortable.  Of course I’m not going to complain at all… just throwing it out there for you to know.

So please consider this your official eviction notice that your time is up.  I feel like Friday, July 24th, would be an awesome birth day for you, so I hope that you make something good happen then.

Oh, and if it’s not too much to ask, please don’t hurt me.  Even though I pretend to be tough, I’m quite the baby so remember that and be gentle while making your way out into the world.

Dear Baby T,

So much is happening to me right now and I’m such an emotional mess, but there is one thing that is so definite and completely clear to me… I cannot wait to meet you.  I’m so excited to see you for the first time!  I wonder what parts of me and what parts of your dad you will have.  

This new feeling wasn’t always present.  

It’s funny how I’ve changed in these past months.  Of course, little babe, I’ve always been happy about you.  I’ve always wanted to provide a safe place for you to grow.  But it hasn’t been until recently that I’ve really gotten excited about you.  You know, it’s finally all settling in about what’s happening and it puts a huge smile on my face!

I’m not really sure if I was just nervous before , if I was still in shock that I was pregnant, or I was just dumb and not letting my emotions shine through, but that’s all in the past now.  

I love thinking about you and I can’t wait to hold you in my arms.  I know that you are going to just complete our lives and I hope that doesn’t sound too cheesy.  I can’t wait to see the world through your eyes, watch you learn, and hear your giggle for the first time.

I was really shocked at that big ultrasound when I was told that you were, in fact, a boy.  I could have swore that you were a girl (no offense!).  It was a surprise because I’d already been thinking pink and bows, definitely not blue and trucks.  But I truly couldn’t imagine my baby not being a boy now.  It seems so perfect and I wouldn’t change it for the world!  

Today we went to the hospital to meet your 2nd cousin who was just born a day ago.  It was amazing to look at her and know that you are growing so strong in my belly too.  I know that you two will be best buddies, even though she’s a girl.  

I just want you to know how much I love you and how much I mean that when I say those words.  I wasn’t sure that I would ever really “come around” to saying that before meeting you, but it’s true.  In no word of a lie, you are always on my mind.  You have no idea how much happiness I feel when you kick the crap out of my stomach.  It makes me giggle each time and it’s definitely my favorite part of being pregnant.

I just imagine you dancing around in there and I can’t wait to see you “dance” in real life too.  There are so many things that I want for you, but I won’t get ahead of myself just yet.  Just know that your mom loves you so much and you already bring me so much joy and happiness.  

In fact, you are turning me into a sap completely.

But it’s okay because you are so worth it, little babe.

Dear Baby Tarzan,

I just wanted to tell you how estatic I am to feel you moving around in my belly so much!  To be honest, before I ever got pregnant, I wondered if I would like feeling a little person in my belly.  I sort of thought it would be weird, almost like an alien.  I’m sorry.  

It makes my heart so happy to feel you moving around in there!  Last night, for the first time, I saw my belly move and it was amazing!  I picture you doing little somersaults in there.  Who knows, maybe you’ll be a gymnast or a great little soccer player.  As I was sitting on the couch, indian style because you seem to move the most when I sit like that, I had my hands on my lower belly to try to focus on feeling you.  

And that’s when you kicked the crap out of me and I saw my belly move.  Don’t worry, it was awesome and I hope that you continue to kick me.  As a soon-to-be mom, I already know that I’m going to worry about you all of the time, so do your mom a favor and keep on letting me know that you are doing good in your temporary house.  And please know that I absolutely love it!

So after I felt you last night I ran upstairs to tell your dad the awesome news and I sat down on the couch in his office.  He came over, sat next to me, and put his hands on my belly because he wanted to feel you too.  Well, sadly, after much waiting, we gave up on him feeling you at that moment.  I know that your dad wanted to feel you and I felt just a little sad that I get to feel you moving about in there and he doesn’t.  I know that the day he feels you will be so fantastic, so I have a little favor to ask of you…

If you could keep on moving, even when our hands are on my belly I’d really appreciate that.  If you hear his voice, I’m giving you the go ahead to kick him.  He’ll love it and he probably can’t even realize how cool it is!  So please, my little boy, cooperate the next time that your dad wants to feel you.  It will warm his heart in so many ways!
