baby boy

baby screamWhat a day today has been.  Nothing serious, don’t worry.  Like @SugarSweetBaby said, everyone is healthy & that’s what is important.  She’s so right & I actually reminded myself of that same fact today while I was crying in my room.

Yes, everyone is healthy.  Now that I’m a mom I am so, so, so grateful that Monkey is healthy.  I know that people have difficulties with their babies & I’m so thankful that Monkey is in tip-top shape.

But you know, sometimes you just have awful days [click to continue…]

post baby dateAs promised my mom came over yesterday to watch little Monkey so that Tarzan and I could go out to dinner and have couple time.  To be honest, I just wanted to crawl into my bed with my pj’s on, but my mom assured me that a date night would be good for us.  She said that she would take care of Monkey at night, so we could go out and come home and sleep.

In the same bed.  After a month.  Finally!

Tarzan and I ended up at a great little bistro where we had delicious food.  Tenderloin with bearnaise [click to continue…]

My labor and delivery designer hospital gown.
Here I am in my pink Hot Mama gown!

Finally, I found time to blog about my full labor and delivery story!  It all started after a night trying to induce labor that was full of sex, sitting on the birthing ball, and eating pizza with pepperoni and pineapple.

Later that night, Tarzan and I fell asleep on the couch and love seat in the living room.

At 2 am I woke up to go to the bathroom and there was nothing unusual about that.  I woke up again at 4 am to find my panties soaked and a circle of wetness that leaked onto the shorts I was wearing.

Hmm… Could this have meant that my water broke? I wasn’t sure.

I first noticed that it was a clear liquid, so no green there.  (Yay!)  I took a whiff to see if it smelled like urine and it didn’t.  There was actually no smell to it.  At this point, I was thinking that all signs were leading to the fact that my water [click to continue…]

I can't wait to meet my baby boy!“When it is time for your very first snuggle with your very own baby – savor the moment. It’s one of the most magical moments you’ll ever know and once it passes, it’s gone, never to be duplicated.

You may be weary and shaking or wired and floating as you gaze for the first time into the eyes of this tiny stranger whose heart has been beating in concert with your own for the past nine months.

Your baby knows you, your [click to continue…]

I'm 36 weeks pregnant and excited to meet our baby boy!Today it dawned on me that it is July 1st.  Usually I do not have any attachment to the month of July.  Oh, but this July is different and is the start of fabulous birthday celebrations to come.

My estimated due date is in 3 weeks.  Three weeks!

Even if he doesn’t come out on his own by my due date, my OB will only let me go one extra week before she’ll want to get things moving.  Even then, [click to continue…]

In-laws won't be here for the birth of the baby, but will come later. In January I posted about my in-laws wanting to be in town for 2 weeks after the baby was born.  As you know I was not looking forward to this.  At all.

Nothing against my in-laws at all, but I had a feeling that it wasn’t a good idea and then many of you confirmed that same thing with your comments.

As much as I thought it wouldn’t be the best experience for any of us, I did decide not to say anything to Tarzan about it.  After all we are talking about his parents here and I would never want to be [click to continue…]

What will life be like when our baby is here? I don't know.As I just put clothes in the dryer, I realized how much laundry Tarzan and I actually go through.  I feel like I just did 3 loads of laundry for us a few days ago and now it’s time again.  And we both work from home, which means that we don’t get out of our pj’s on some days.

As I was putting the clothes from the washing machine to the dryer, my thoughts turned to our baby.  I can’t even imagine how much laundry our new family of three will go through then.

Then I got to thinking that I still can’t really imagine what our new life will be [click to continue…]

I think we finally picked our baby boy's name! Yay!!As you know, Tarzan and I have been going back and forth discussing various boy names that we can name our baby.  I never expected how tough this would be!  I always thought that picking a name would be one of the most exciting parts about being pregnant, but honestly, it isn’t all that exciting.  It is more complicated than anything!

Of course our baby had to be a boy, right?  See, he’s already making things difficult for us!  Just kidding… but we did have a girl’s name picked.  Just sayin’.

It seems like every name I’ve [click to continue…]

My due date is July 2009.Since I’ve been pregnant for what seems to be like forever, there are a few sentences that I’ve really begun dreading to hear.  This is only due to the fact that it’s the same sentences that keep coming out of people’s mouths and it’s getting on my last nerve.  These comments come from strangers that I meet at the mall, waiting in line, or while waiting for valet, friends, and family.

I’m sure that there will be tons more comments that I’ll learn to hate, but right now here are some of the ones that really put the icing on the cake.

Note to self: Next time someone is pregnant, abide by your own rules and don’t ask the typical annoying questions that you hated when you were pregnant.

1.  ”When are you due?  Oh July.”

After I say July, I hear either “Oh in the summer” or “Wow, that’s going to be hot”.  Really?!  Like I haven’t lived in Houston for [click to continue…]

19 weeks pregnant maternity insurancePregnancy week 19 for pregnant Jane has been a busy one, that’s for sure.  In a previous post about my gallbladder pain, I talked about going to the doctor and having to get some test run.  Well, I got the results back and there is nothing wrong with my gallbladder or anything else in my stomach.

This is one of the many reasons why I’m not a fan of going to the doctors office.  After shelling out hundreds and hundreds of dollars (at least now I’m under $100 away from meeting my deductible) and after some tests, I’m told my gallbladder is A-OK along with the rest of my insides.

It was strange actually.  The nurse who called me to tell me the results sounded excited [click to continue…]
