venting about grandmaI just have to vent about my mom for a minute.  Oh. My. Gosh.  I feel like no matter how hard I try, we just don’t click.  I feel like she judges me without even realizing what she’s doing, if that even makes sense.

Yesterday and this past Sunday we hung out and went shopping.

While we were at a store on Sunday, my mom was holding Monkey.  She showed him something & in natural baby form, he went to put it in his mouth.  I [click to continue…]

Monkey and I have lunch plans & an afternoon filled with shopping, so I just wanted to ask a question real fast.

thanksgiving turkeyJane, Monkey, and I hope that you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.  Be sure to take a few minutes today and think about what you’re thankful for.  As for me, I’m thankful for having such a loving wife who is the absolute best mother to our son.  I’m thankful for our son Baby Monkey, who has become our entire world.  I’m thankful that he’s such a good, healthy, and happy little boy.

And speaking of Monkey…

I’m thankful that [click to continue…]

baby poopNote to self:  Next time it is late and you realize that Monkey is out of size 2 diapers (how exactly did that happen?) do not be lazy and put a size 1 diaper on him.  Especially at night when he sleeps for 12 hours.

It just creates a ton more work for you because the [click to continue…]

love between a mother and a sonNow that motherhood has been a part of my life for almost 5 weeks, I feel a little more confident about all things mom and baby related.  Notice I said “a little more confident”… I still have a long ways to go, but looking back to when Monkey was just born, I have come a long way.  There’s still so much for me to learn and room for my confidence to increase tenfold.

Motherhood is so unique that nothing except experience can really prepare you.  You can read books, blogs, or listen to advice from parents, but it will not be the same when you have a child.  It’s just something that you need to [click to continue…]

seriously man upYou know, I debated and debated with myself whether or not to write this post.  After all, it’s 2:39 AM and I’m struggling to keep my eyes open.  And besides that, this is surely a touch subject with some of you – especially if you’re a lazy new father.  But before I get started on my rant, let me fill you in on a little background here…

Jane ran out today to bring our dog to the vet and I was on official “Daddy Duty” [click to continue…]

first-outingYesterday was a big day for our little Monkey!  It was his official first outing that wasn’t to the pediatrician’s office.  Yesterday also marked two weeks since Monkey has been home.  Wow, it really has gone by so quickly!

We decided that we would go over to my parent’s house to hang out for a bit.  Around noon my mom called to see if we knew about what time we would be there and I told her “no later than 3 pm”.  I figured that three hours would be more than enough time to get all three of us ready.

Well, I was [click to continue…]

baby eating scheduleIt’s 1:05 AM.  All the lights are turned off except for a small lamp in the far corner of the living room.  The hum of the air purifier and the relaxing waves of the Cloud B Sleep Sheep flow softly in the background.  A soft glow of light flows into the hallway from the light on the porch, casting long shadows upon the living room floor.

Books and magazines about babies scatter the coffee table, nearly covering the surface except one corner that sits a nearly empty glass of water.  Four pairs of shoes lay randomly next to the couch.  A rocking chair covered in [click to continue…]

postpartum blues and tired daddyI’ve got a lot to cover and have breastfeeding questions from Jane in this post today.  Please bare with me, I am beyond exhausted.  The good news is that if you are pregnant and your hormones are kicking into high gear, this post won’t get your tears flowing like some of you mentioned in the previous blog post. :)

Let’s start with last night…

To say the least, last night was rough.  It was our first night by ourselves with our little Monkey because Jane’s mother wasn’t able to stay the night.  I knew we were in for a long night and Jane and I thought we were prepared… boy were we wrong!

Somehow we ended up in this endless loop.  Jane and I were going crazy trying to figure out how [click to continue…]
