doctor appointment

mother son loveRemember that episode of Friends where Rachel’s pediatrician drops her as a client for constantly calling him about concerns with Emma?

Well that’s me.  Not exactly in the fact that Monkey’s pediatrician has dropped me though.  More in like that I scheduled an appointment for Monkey today because [click to continue…]

six week postpartum appointmentFirst of all, even though I have not commented on my previous blog posts yet, please know how much I appreciate what all of you had to say about my postpartum depression.

After I left to go to the grocery story yesterday, I was reading the comments on my phone while driving.  I was crying as I was reading them so I decided to put my phone down until I got into the parking lot.

There’s a lot you can’t see when tears are in the way.

As soon as I parked my car I picked my phone back up.  I think there were only [click to continue…]

sex after having a babyYes, we’ve come full circle here.  It seems like years ago when Jane was 16 weeks pregnant and I was writing about her crazy hormones and lack of sex.  Back then, I never thought too much about what life would be like after Monkey was born as far as sex was concerned.

I mean, what’s the deal? The last time we were at Jane’s doctor’s office we asked what are some things we can do to induce labor naturally at home and she told us to have lots of sex.  I don’t know about you, but any doctor telling Jane and I to have lots of sex just secured me [click to continue…]

bloody show mucus plug clean up kitToday started off just like every other day.  39 weeks pregnant and still waiting… But then something strange happened that will (hopefully) make this day stand out as a little different from the others.

A couple of my girl friends were in town and they wanted to meet us for lunch.  We settled on Cafe Express at noon.  Tarzan didn’t really feel like getting dressed, but I persuaded him to go and am glad that he went.

Anyways…

Lunch was great!  I enjoyed my huge greek salad with chicken and Tarzan [click to continue…]

Hope I don't go into labor before the Aerosmith concert tonight at 39 weeks pregnant.Back when I was newly pregnant, we got tickets for the Aerosmith concert.  Sure, we calculated how many weeks pregnant I would be (39 weeks pregnant), but there were a few things that I just could not have known at that time.

Like how uncomfortable being 39 weeks pregnant is.  Like how my little babe loves to press on my bladder and make me pee every 5 minutes.  Like how slow I would move.  Like how hot I would be in the middle of July in Houston.

Oh, and did I mention that the concert is at [click to continue…]

My cervix is finally open at 38 weeks pregnant!I had a great appointment today at 38 weeks pregnant.  I can’t believe I’m so close!

At my appointment last week, at 37 weeks pregnant, my OB said that she would rather him come anytime after 38 weeks.  I asked her why since I thought that 37 weeks was full-term.  (Of course my preference would be for him to stay put until closer to 40 weeks.)

She said that while it is full-term, in her experience, little white babies born at 37 weeks are usually [click to continue…]

Yay! I finally made it to being full term at 37 weeks pregnant!Ahhh, I made it!!  Not only has my third trimester flown by (most of the time), but I’m officially considered “full term” in my pregnancy.  This is a huge deal to me.

There’s something really comforting about knowing that my baby could be born tomorrow and chances are that he would be more than A-OK.

It’s a relief that I’ve done my best to keep him healthy and safe in my ute for 9 months already.  9 months.  Wow.

I can’t wait to meet the little guy!

I notice that I’ve become [click to continue…]

Another pregnancy appointment today at 36 weeks pregnant and it went great!Pregnancy Weight: Didn’t look.  Nurse said it was up 1 pound.  ”Doing good”, she said.

Baby’s Heartbeat: In the 150s.

Baby’s Position: Head down, just like a good little boy.

Weeks my belly is measuring at: 37 weeks.  I know this doesn’t really mean much, but it’s interesting to know because each week I measure the exact week that I’m currently in.

Internal: After hearing on our pregnancy blog and on twitter, I was nervous.  I mean, really nervous.  I’d heard some bad things about what is called the internal.  I was telling the nurse what I heard and she [click to continue…]

I had another pregnancy appointment today at 34 weeks pregnant.Pregnancy Weight:  Um, I need to start paying attention to this better.  Not sure what the number was.  Maybe up 1 or 2 pounds?  I’ll keep a better lookout at my next appointment.

Blood Pressure:  98/56

The nurse said that my blood pressure was “great”.  I don’t know much about blood pressure, but I do know that the “normal” is 120/80.  I also know that my blood pressure is not high, clearly, but it [click to continue…]

My 32 week pregnancy appointment went well today!Weight:  Didn’t really pay attention.  I think it was up 1 lb.

Blood Pressure:  99/66

Baby’s Heartbeat: In the 150s

Baby’s Position:  My doctor thinks that he has turned head down, which is a sigh of relief (as long as he is down and he stays that way).

Problem with baby’s position:  None, as long as he stays in this position until he is ready to come out.  It’s nice if he does because I would prefer to have a vaginal birth without having to be [click to continue…]
