baby feeding AMAnd there I was.  Sound asleep in bed.  It was around 6:45 in the morning and I awoke to our dog staring up at me crying and whining.  Oh God.  Don’t tell me.  You see, our dog was never the crying-whining type.  But since having Monkey, he must have noticed how when Monkey cries, he gets our attention.

So, over the last few months our dog has regressed and turned into a baby.  He drives us crazy with all of his whining lately.  And like most dogs who may cry because they need to go outside in the morning, our dog [click to continue…]

baby throwing upAs parents, your heart sinks when your baby is throwing up.  You feel so helpless.  And you can’t help but get a little scared because they can’t tell you why their throwing up, what hurts, what’s wrong, or what’s going on with them.

Last night I was working up in my office and Jane Skyped me and said that Monkey was making some strange noises.  We had just laid him down to bed about 20 minutes earlier after Jane fed him.

I went downstairs and heard Monkey making noises I’ve never heard him make before.  Jane and I went into his room and I saw that his eyes were wide open and he was [click to continue…]

father blogI really have to begin by saying that I miss all you guys and Jane has told me several times that many of you have been asking about me.  I’ve just put my ‘dad hat’ on and have put my nose down and have been working very, very hard.  The free time that I do have, I spend with Monkey of course.

What a journey we’ve been on, huh?

From first finding out that Jane was pregnant and dealing with all the things you deal with when you have a pregnant wife and all the [click to continue…]

seriously man upYou know, I debated and debated with myself whether or not to write this post.  After all, it’s 2:39 AM and I’m struggling to keep my eyes open.  And besides that, this is surely a touch subject with some of you – especially if you’re a lazy new father.  But before I get started on my rant, let me fill you in on a little background here…

Jane ran out today to bring our dog to the vet and I was on official “Daddy Duty” [click to continue…]

baby creativity-childhood-developmentOne thing about fatherhood and parenthood that’s surprised me is how much I’ve become interested in what Monkey is thinking and how his little mind works and learns.  I guess throughout pregnanthood I never thought about how things would be day-to-day with Monkey.  And I never really thought about the feelings I’d feel or the thoughts I’d think as I held him and stared into his deep blue eyes.

Being a parent changes you.  It changes the way you think about your spouse.  It changes the way you think about yourself.  And it changes the way you think about life.  All of these changes are [click to continue…]

daddys design snoogie seat monkeyWith the birth of our little baby Monkey, we got way behind on some of the great products we received that needed to be reviewed – as I’ve mentioned a few times now to keep reminding myself.  LOL!  Now that things are calming down a little around here, Jane is back posting on our pregnancy and baby blog here, and will be getting back to Twittering.

There are several reviews we need to do – and some will include contests where you can win the item we’re reviewing or posting about!

The item that I wanted to tell you about today is [click to continue…]

postpartum blues and tired daddyI’ve got a lot to cover and have breastfeeding questions from Jane in this post today.  Please bare with me, I am beyond exhausted.  The good news is that if you are pregnant and your hormones are kicking into high gear, this post won’t get your tears flowing like some of you mentioned in the previous blog post. :)

Let’s start with last night…

To say the least, last night was rough.  It was our first night by ourselves with our little Monkey because Jane’s mother wasn’t able to stay the night.  I knew we were in for a long night and Jane and I thought we were prepared… boy were we wrong!

Somehow we ended up in this endless loop.  Jane and I were going crazy trying to figure out how [click to continue…]

baby tarzan is now our baby monkeyAre you ready for my LONGEST blog post to date?  Grab a cup of coffee and let’s get you all caught up on everything we’ve had going on!

Since we got home from the hospital, I feel like we’ve been in a tornado.  We’re busier than we’ve ever been and the days are all running together.  Our son, Baby Tarzan, is doing GREAT.  Jane is also doing great, but very, very tired as you can imagine.

Now before I go into my little “being a Daddy” piece today, I wanted to update you guys on a lot of different things based on questions that have come in from our blog here and on Twitter that people like you [click to continue…]

packing for hospital when pregnantPregnant Jane has been asking me for the last few days to confess on our pregnancy blog about my “packing for the hospital” ordeal.  Now before I dive into the whole “packing for the hospital” bit, Jane wanted me to share what I have prepared in our car for you.

The other day to get the ball rolling, I did something that has become  a target for laughter for Pregnant Jane, and she seems to want to show and share with anyone who goes into our car!

Hidden behind the backseat is a [click to continue…]

pregnant-shavingIt began like a normal evening.  I was in the living room and Pregnant Jane was in the bathroom taking a bath.  After a few minutes, she called me into the bathroom. I figured she needed soap or maybe even a towel.

Boy was I wrong…

I walked into the bathroom and said, “yeah?”

Pregnant Jane just looked at me and began laughing.  “What are you laughing at?”  I asked.

“Can ummm… you help me with something?”  She smiled and begin to laugh again.

Oh. My. Gosh.  Immediately I knew exactly what Jane [click to continue…]
