First Trimester

9 months pregnant belly37 weeks pregnant and reminiscing… Prior to actually being pregnant, there were a few things that I associated with those particular 9 months.  I thought of the pregnancy glow, pregnancy hair, morning sickness, desserts, getting some special attention (not gonna lie), Mexican food (seriously yum), gaining pregnancy weight, pregnancy fatigue, swollen pregnancy feet and hands, stretch marks, big boobs, pregnancy sex, and nesting.

I never got the lovely pregnancy glow that I’ve heard about.  And while a few people have said, “You are just glowing” I know that they are full [click to continue…]

The labor phone calls have started at 37 weeks pregnant. Not looking forward to this part at all.And so the fun begins at 37 weeks pregnant.

I’ve heard how annoying it can be to field calls from family and friends who are constantly asking the same questions, “Are you ok? Any signs of labor yet?”

When people complained about those questions previously, I remember thinking to myself, “At least people care enough about that person to ask and wonder”.

Why would someone complain [click to continue…]

pregnancy-week-14-nausea-morning-sicknessI feel so bad for my wonderful and beautiful 14 week pregnant wife.  She started to feel a little nausea and “morning sickness” kick in late last night.  She slept OK, but shortly after she woke up this morning she was throwing up.

She then felt a little better and then the nausea kicked in again.  She’s been in bed all day today throwing up.

I feel like a lost puppy dog.  I don’t handle people being sick too well.  I get really nervous, worked up, I feel so bad for the person (especially when it’s your 14-week pregnant wife!), and my stomach churns when I see or hear her.

She’s tried to eat a few things like [click to continue…]

gender-old-wives-talesSince a long waiting period is involved before you can find out the sex of the baby you are carrying, pregnancy old wives tales can provide a little insight and most of all, they are fun.  All pregnancy old wives tales have a 50/50 chance of being correct, so why not have a little fun with them.

I know that we can’t wait to find out what we are having.  Just a couple more weeks of waiting and then we’ll know if we are having a boy or girl, and if any of these pregnancy old wives tales were correct.  Try not to put too much faith in these old wives tales though; they really won’t be accurate and like I said, they are mostly for fun!

Here’s a list of 51 pregnancy old wives tales:

Old Wives Tale #1:  Heartburn

If a pregnant woman experiences heartburn throughout the 9 months of pregnancy, she’ll have a baby born with a full head of hair.

Old Wives Tale #2: Umbilical Cord

If a pregnant woman lifts her hands above her head or does stretches above her hand, she will [click to continue…]

pregnancy-hormones-and-cryingIt’s funny that I’m about to blog about how this pregnancy is making my emotions run wild, considering how my husband made fun of me the other day about this same thing.  But, here goes…

I really like watching Extreme Makeover Home Edition, but I cannot get through one damn episode without tears running out of my eyes.  Tonight was no different.  Tarzan and I were on the couch watching this show and from the very beginning of it until the very end, I was a mess.

A crying pregnant woman that couldn’t stop.

Just in case Tarzan rats me out, [click to continue…]

12-weeks-pregnant-babySo Jane is 12 weeks pregnant and we’ve of course told our immediate friends and family, but when do we tell all of our other friends that Jane is 12 weeks pregnant?  Or do we wait until 13 weeks?  Or 14 weeks pregnant?

Jane and I have talked about it a little bit and she said we should wait until the second trimester – which I just learned that the second trimester starts when you’re 13 weeks pregnant!

I finally know.

If you’ve been reading my previous blog posts, you’ll see that I was confused as to when the first trimester ends and when the second trimester starts.  Whew!  Glad I finally have that one figured out.

So I guess we’ll be officially making Jane’s pregnancy public in about 7 days or so.  I’m not sure how we’re going to do it.  Far too many people [click to continue…]

12-weeks-pregnant-plumI’m 12 weeks pregnant today and my baby is the size of a plum!  How exciting!

As each week goes by, I find myself really looking forward to getting these emails that tell me what’s going on with the baby and with myself as well.  I’m also really excited to be entering the second trimester soon (just 1 week and 3 days)!

Here’s what is going on with the plum this week:

- The hair that will provide the warmth for the baby’s body is starting to form all around the body.
- The baby is starting to urinate and is able to absorb sugar now.
- The baby has started to [click to continue…]

Today has been a lay-on-the-couch-and-do-nothing-day.

I hate these days.  Migraines when pregnant really suck.  I just want to cry.  Dare I say it, but even the nausea was better to deal with than having a migraine.  Picture me laying on the couch, the blinds completely shut and dreading when I have to actually get off the couch to go to the bathroom because of the rush that fills my head.

Please, please, please, please go away migraine.  Leave me and my pregnant self alone for the remaining months of pregnancy.

GO AWAY.

birth-experience-preditionThere are so many different baby birth experience predictions for pregnant women online, and naturally I love seeing what they predict I will have.  I know that it’s total b.s. and that there is a 50/50 chance of being correct, but it’s still fun.

Here’s what my birth experience prediction from Madame Zaritska said:

The day you deliver, outside will be sunny. Your baby will arrive in the afternoon.

After a labor lasting approximately 22 hours, your child, a girl, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 6 pounds, 14 ounces, and will be 17 inches long. This child will have blue eyes and some very fine hair.

11-weeks-pregnant-razorSo I’m 11 weeks pregnant and today is the first day that I’ve felt good.  When I say good, I mean that I cleaned the house all while dancing to Madonna and Britney.  I took a shower and actually shaved my legs.  OK, so when you are pregnant and feel like crap all the time, some hygiene might start to lack.

Not saying I’m proud of this, but I felt too nauseous to spend more than the 10 minutes it took to wash and condition my hair, let alone shave all the areas that had a ton of hair growing on them.

Seriously, it was bad.

Think of it like this: [click to continue…]
