Craigslist.
I have a love/hate relationship with Craigslist. I love that we can make some money when we tire of something, but I hate, hate, hate the idea of inviting a stranger into our house.
It’s weird, no?
If you remember back when I was pregnant [click to continue…]
Three weeks postpartum and time to think about what I’ve learned so far. I really can’t believe that three weeks ago today I had our little Monkey. When you factor in the sleep deprivation, it seems like forever ago, but it’s only been three weeks and time really does fly by when you have a baby!
When I was pregnant I tried to read up on a few baby books, but honestly, none of them really held my interest. I look at motherhood at a trial and error kind of thing and something that you have to experience for yourself in order to know what to do. All babies are different and all parents are different, so what worked for one family might not have worked for us. I tried to enjoy being pregnant, but I will admit that I was beyond anxious to get this show on the road and come home with a baby.
Oh, if only I knew just how different life would [click to continue…]
Things are finally starting to settle down and I think the postpartum baby blues have completely left my body now. It feels nice to be on my computer again since little Monkey is sleeping. I know that I’m supposed to sleep when he does, but I can’t grasp napping during the day just yet. (Maybe I’m just not tired enough?!)
I wish things weren’t so crazy when we first got home because I would have loved to blog about how I was feeling. I’ll try my best to recap my feelings for you now, but I feel completely different now, which is such a good thing!
I couldn’t wait to be discharged from the hospital last Saturday. I was ready to go! It was an exciting time to have Tarzan pack up the car and for me and Monkey to be wheeled down to meet him at the car. It was also a scary [click to continue…]

Here I am in my pink Hot Mama gown!
Finally, I found time to blog about my full labor and delivery story! It all started after a night trying to induce labor that was full of sex, sitting on the birthing ball, and eating pizza with pepperoni and pineapple.
Later that night, Tarzan and I fell asleep on the couch and love seat in the living room.
At 2 am I woke up to go to the bathroom and there was nothing unusual about that. I woke up again at 4 am to find my panties soaked and a circle of wetness that leaked onto the shorts I was wearing.
Hmm… Could this have meant that my water broke? I wasn’t sure.
I first noticed that it was a clear liquid, so no green there. (Yay!) I took a whiff to see if it smelled like urine and it didn’t. There was actually no smell to it. At this point, I was thinking that all signs were leading to the fact that my water [click to continue…]
Warning: Tarzan’s soft side is coming out here… OK, maybe it’s not much of a secret, but Jane and I are crazy about each other and have been since the first day we met. Sure, like all couples we have our disagreements and heck, even an argument or two (or many, many more when those pregnancy hormones were kicking into high gear!), but I truly believe what we have is so powerful and so special.
We’ve both worked from home together for several years and have been fortunate enough to be able to wake up together, have breakfast, lunch, and dinner together everyday. Over the years I’ve told that to male friends or [click to continue…]
With Jane at the tail end of the third trimester and a few days into pregnancy week 38, she’s as calm as can be with each passing day somehow. She’s laying on the couch doing kick counts, and I’m just trying to concentrate on work… or anything for that matter.
Concentrating on anything is becoming quite a task. I swear, I’m beginning to lose my mind here! I mean… [click to continue…]
Pregnant Jane’s 35 weeks pregnant belly picture is on the left and it has been added to Jane’s pregnancy week-by-week belly pictures page. From a father-to-be perspective, everything is going really smooth lately. Really smooth! Dare I say this… but I believe Pregnant Jane’s pregnancy hormones are not acting up like they were a week or two ago. Or a month or two ago… or months and months ago…
It’s great to see my beautiful little 35 week pregnant wife back to her normal self. Well, minus a few things here and there such [click to continue…]
I just got back from sitting in the nursery for a few minutes. I originally went into the room to get an idea for how big of a rug we need in there, but I decided to sit on the rocker for a moment and take it all in.
The room was completely still and I was surrounded by bags of baby clothes, toys, blankets, stuffed animals, and other baby-related items. I sat there and looked at the crib. In several weeks our son will be laying down in there and I began to think: In several weeks my life [click to continue…]
Yesterday Tarzan and I spent four hours in a classroom to learn about “life after baby”.
Let me first just say that it is completely ridiculous that they didn’t have more comfortable chairs. I was uncomfortable from the beginning, as was Tarzan and he isn’t even 34 weeks pregnant.
I feel like I’ve graduated from knowing nothing about baby to having a pretty good understanding of what my life will be like with baby. Well, as much as I can. I fully believe that all of the advice in the world [click to continue…]
In January I posted about my in-laws wanting to be in town for 2 weeks after the baby was born. As you know I was not looking forward to this. At all.
Nothing against my in-laws at all, but I had a feeling that it wasn’t a good idea and then many of you confirmed that same thing with your comments.
As much as I thought it wouldn’t be the best experience for any of us, I did decide not to say anything to Tarzan about it. After all we are talking about his parents here and I would never want to be [click to continue…]
